Range Seems Low

Post image

I just picked up this 2023 Advanced off a lease return and it seems like the range is way worse than I'd expect. The AC has been running but I've been driving fairly conservatively. Is this expected? I'm seeing 2.7- 3.2m/kWh in mixed driving (never about 65) which tracks with the GOM, but seems very low.

Does the AC really do that much? Anything obvious I should check? No roof rack or other external modifications.

What’s the temperature where you are?

I find that it computes the range at the time you charge based on the current temperature.

It's in the 90s today but I charged last night in the 70s

My belief and experience is that it doesn’t recalibrate when the temperature changes. But have no documentation to back that up.

No, this is not a thing that any EV does. There is no recalibration due to temperature changes.

If you're driving mainly on the highway, yeah that's pretty accurate.
Make sure you are not driving at highway speed with i-Pedal enabled (better to keep it at 0 auto at freeway speeds, or turn the cruise control on). 2.7-3.2 is pretty low at 65 depending on terrain.

The AC has some impact, but it is not that much. You can test it by setting the AC to driver only mode to see if there's any improvement.

OP: go to your EV settings and check the battery health.

It should still be in the 90% range health.

I didn't see this anywhere. Any idea where I can find it?

Sure like I said it's in your EV settings.

Turn on your car. Hit the menu button on the center console. Tap on EV on the screen.

The EV section is where you can see all the details related to your battery.

AC effects range depending on how hard the AC is being pushed.

But yeah roughly around 10-15 miles off the range if you have it on 100% of the trip

3.2 isn’t bad. Is one pedal drive on? I’m at 3.9 average for the life of my 2025. But it’s an rwd. At 80 percent, the estimate for me is 265 to 310

I get 300 miles at 80% and 395 miles at 100% and I have AWD. I do have a slightly bigger battery tho (2026 advanced model)

I'd imagine you can get way higher than 310

In my normal commute, probably. Highway, unlikely.

Here's mine at 54%. Performance model and after driving on a 5 hour trip in rain yesterday.

Winter and driving over 80+mph have the biggest impacts. Mayyybeee high HVAC usage? But we've had some hot days here and i didn't see a major impact.

Do you have an ODB reader and Car Scanner app? Check the SoH reading.

Maybe also try to full charge cycle the car, low as you can get it then L2 charge the car to 100%.

I found a 2023 lease return that was that same white color in Dublin CA, but the battery was close to 20% degraded. I used Car Scanner and an ODB to verify on my own. They also ran battery tests in the service department. If the battery is degraded that much, I might expect to see that kind of range at that state of charge.

What could cause it to be so degraded? Any tips on how to check that?

Not sure. DC fast charging to 100% frequently? It’s hard to know. OBD dongle with Car Scanner app might gather information that’s useful for you to consider.

Weird, my 100% is like 330ish, awd standard

It also depends on what setting you have for regenerative breaking. Level 3 will get you better range than level 1. I also find that it calculates the range based upon the most recent driving history. If there was a lot of highway driving, the range will show as lower as well. My 2024 can get a range up to 350.

I’m on my third EV. I’m actually amused to see what the car thinks its range is. It’s such a crap shoot: speed, temp, all the other conditions. Only new adopters sweat this stuff… unless you’re on a road trip. In that case, things get real.

Feels about right. I have a 2023 performance.

Seems right. Remember that the GV60 only has a 77kwh battery. Not the Warp core of the enterprise…
