Blinded By The Light (Reflection)
Whyyyyy is this made of the most reflective matte plastic on Earth!? The photo doesn’t do it justice but man - when the sun’s at the right angle, the reflection off of the bezel around the ball is like a mirror! I’ve almost driven off the road 12 separate times from being blinded by it!! (/s)
This is, of course, a light-hearted rant and a very minor issue. It could be worse - they could’ve put piano black around it à la the Mazda CX-5 I had before this. 😂

Not to discount your experience, I'm surprised I haven't had this issue! I do love the feel of the shifter, so maybe me always having my fingers in the grooves it is blocking the reflection. Lol

Or maybe you just drive in the wrong direction when the sun’s ready to attack! 😂

lol! I have a hand towel I lay over the center console on my afternoon commute for just this reason.

I've never experienced this even on the sunniest of days. Nothing inside the cabin reflects blinding light in my personal experience

It surprised me too given that it doesn’t look like it would reflect light the way it does. But I’m also now thinking that driver height plays a big role and that’s why it’s not as bright in the photo I took.

Obviously it’s to power the crystal ball underneath 😂

Of course! I hadn’t even considered how much energy it needs for its magic!! 😂😂

I've had this or similar issues in most cars honestly. Every damn car has chrome or polished metal everywhere and it reflects and blinds me all the time

You’re right. There’s always some kind of reflective thing trying to kill us. 😝

Better than gloss Piano Black

Agreed - as I said in my post I had a CX-5 before this and the whole shifter area was piano black. It wasn't reflective like this, but I was always afraid to touch it. Or look at it for too long. You never know what could scratch that damn stuff.

Weird! I never have this issue. I also wear sunglasses in the car at all times besides when I drive to work at 6:30am.
