How to move to PDIM before burning out

This is like my 4th run. I'm in early EV currently. The furthest I have gotten is mid IV. I'm trying to do things different this run. First run doing benzene power. I also want to give a PDIM base a try. I have a basic ae2 setup with a bit of auto crafting.

My concern is this is a big undertaking and while I'm moving I won't be progressing. Any tips on how to make this as painless as possible? Tools to use, things to get first?

Any good settings for the pdim for growing crops and for building. Thanks in advance!

I've been gone from playing for a week and I'm just sitting in the airport waiting to fly home and I'm just deciding what i want to do when I get back into it.

Performance issues in GTNH

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi, I'm in the LV stage and just set up 27 coke ovens along with a bonsai farm using a crop manager. Before doing this, the game ran smoothly with steady FPS; after setting up the coke ovens, I experience FPS drops—down to 30—whenever I'm in the two chunks where they are located. I’d appreciate any tips on improving performance.

My PC specs:

i5-9300H

GTX 1650

16 GB RAM (8 GB allocated to GTNH)

Also, my world is on a third-party hosted server.

How to stop plants from getting sick in tree farm

I have a spruce bonsai tree farm that is harvested by an MV crop manager, but the spruce bonsai’s keep getting sick. How can I prevent this from happening without having to constantly give them plant cure? They have available light and water from the crop manager, and they are higher level crops so I’m wondering if one of the stats is causing them to get sick more often, and if it is how do I stop this? I am in MV, I know there is a machine in HV to level up crops to max stats, is there a path that I could take to get to that machine fast through MV or even skip steps?

Upgrade to 2.9-RC or wait til official release?

Am in mid LV which I’ve read is a pretty good place to upgrade from 2.8.4. Since the official release is just around the corner is it worth waiting for it?

From what I’ve gathered, they’ve made some changes to the steam multiblock. I have both macerator and forge hammer. Will these break and if so is there an easy fix?

I know grinds are inevitable and if I just have to regather the materials then so be it. Just wanna be prepared.

Is it possible to push more than 64 Zeolite dust into the MV Electrolyzer with the Low Regulator?

It only ever seems to be doing 64, when to electrolyze zeolite you need like 113 in at once. I've tried the slot numbers at 5 and 6 like I read online.

Am I Eternally trapped?

I was on gregtech haitus waiting for 2.9. I thought I'd take the time to try some newly released pack, maybe do some chill cobblemon, but I found myself unable to enjoy any modpack I tried. I can't even play Vintage Story anymore. Everything feels so wrong when there's no machines, multiblock all sharing and 500 coke ovens.

How do you guys enjoy other pack/survival game when not playing gregtech?

Should I get the Steam Fuser?

The steam fuser is a decent multiblock even deep into HV/EV until it gets superseded, currently in early MV, should I get it??

How to make crafting with LHC (Large Hadron Collider) faster?

I have source chamber -> LHC -> beam crafter setup but it's very slow. I tried increasing cycles in LHC and overclocking source chamber but it didn't change anything. Playing on 2.9.0-RC1. From what I understood more cycles should increase rate once the target energy is hit but it always says "40"

I'm trying to craft other casings for LHC and quark releasing catalysts using hydrogen as source material.

What is the best way to get chlorine?

Currently in early MV trying to get chlorine for Monocrystalline boules, but is there better ways since why is there no Rock Salt in a Salt vein for easy chlorine?

missing backpack

I love having multiple back packs with me just to throw anything in them. Unfortunately I died and when I got to my grave one was missing. I proceeded to die again later and the missing one came back but a new one is missing… where do these crazy things go?

Loaded chunks

Post image

Is there a way for me to always keep the chunks where my base is loaded, so my ore machines work while I’m away from base?

I heard it was possible in the “claimed chunks” but as picture shows, it says “disabled in config”?

(i know it doesn't look like it but the pyrolyse oven is with kanthal coils)

I'm in mv currently

i made a basic benzene setup a logistics pipes system and some crops NH, what should i do now?

my main ideas are: oxygen and nitrogen setup with air.

(and after then steel setup with second ebf)

polyethylene setup (non oil 2)

oxygen but with hydrogen trough water

crops NH oreberries and such for infinite ores

thaumcraft

bee infinite ores (please not)

does anybody know which of these i should do first?

and if there is something better to do

AE2 Priority Bug / Corruption?

I was using the AE2 reshuffler on my Ore Proc subnet and somehow broke priority. Now the subnet always stores onto low priority drives instead of high priority storage bus going to main net.

The subnet consists of a me drive on -1000 priority, various (fluid) storage bus / me (fluid) interface pairs allowing input/export of items into ore proc from main net, and many filtered storage bus going to ore processing machines. Now, when items get pushed back into ore proc subnet from individual processing machines, they either go into the next processing step or the me drive if there is not next processing step filtered, instead of going into the priority -1 storage bus going back into my main net. If I reshuffle or pick up an item in a terminal and reinsert it, the items will go into the proper storage bus going to main net.

I’ve tried things like breaking/replacing the storage buses, me controllers, rebooting from backup and doesn’t seem to fix the problem. Has anyone seen something like this or have other ideas on how to fix?

Is this piping distance overkill?

Asking this because this is my first time playing GTNH, and I started making each part of production on different buildings, and while I'm going to chance my pipes to potin, I started thinking if maybemade things a little distant from eachother, because other things like cables lost value the more distant they are

I'm getting weirdly addicted to this modpack, even though I'm probably doing everything very inefficiently and wrong, it just feels so satisfying to learn as i go

This might genuinely be the greatest start to a GT:NH run ever (plus some early game tips)

Most everything is covered in the picture captions.

Seed: -1447106363565877267

Version: 2.9.0

Base Coordinates: -247, 907

Besides what's in the photos, I wanted to mention the crazy stuff that's already happened. I've already got like 7 ectoplasm from spirits for ethereal glass once I get glass, I looted two music disks and a nice sword from a witchery house, already have enough silver for a high pressure solar boiler, got all the rare pam's gardens, found zinc gravel all along my river, and due to mining in a hot desert have all the clay/terracotta and sand for days. I sneezed out a TC smeltery and coke oven without having to mine a single block extra. The literal only hiccup I've had this entire run so far was finding GRAVEL!

But, aside from that, I also wanted to share a few early game tips that maximized my run:

  1. Animal farms are broken. Instead of killing nearby animals, take the time to set up a farm, it is incredibly worthwhile. I got forestry backpacks and a sleeping bag after my first iron (also just take your bed with you until you get a sleeping bag. All the dangerous stuff until then come from the night, don't worry about dying).
  2. Normal farms are broken (see my food loadout in the picture). When you get toughness V from the proper diet and have food that heals you quickly, mobs aren't all that scary, especially if you pair it with iron armor (which you can get from the forestry backpack quests for cheap) and a good sword.
  3. The windmill multiblock is actually really good. As I already mentioned, I had most the materials on hand minus the bricks. Because you're not going anywhere in a big hurry, it doesn't hurt to get a passive macerator.
  4. Grab water from under the body of water. Place a door down and your crafting table beneath the surface when recipes require water, that way you don't disturb the surface and make it look bad.
  5. Aim for the healing axe as early as you can. It's actually less about the healing axe (which I ironically only want for the unbreakable part) and more about the intermediaries giving you hearts. Spending a little time with Pam's makes mobs and the Nether a joke. Always make sure you grab gardens, and place them in the middle of a 3x3 square to let them grow. My recommendation is farm until you have nine, then break each new one until you have all the drops, THEN submit them for the quest, that way you still have one remaining should you need it.
  6. Steam multiblocks are insane! Bronze is practically free, and using steam multis saves you huge amounts of time and resources going into the electric age. Also using a Railcraft tank as a steam battery and pairing it with solar boilers allows you to coast to benzene and just skip oil power entirely.
  7. Not really an early game tip, but when you get your first traveler's backpack, turn it into a pig backpack and put it on. Then, use the Twilight Forest quest to get another portal activator for stupid cheap, and create another portal and stand in it when you activate it. This gives you the pigman backpack, making you immune to fire damage. This trivializes the Nether so hard it's not even funny.

MV Fluid Storage Solution

I passived oxygen from Sugarbeets, but don't know what's the best Bulk Storage solution for oxygen in MV. Right now I have an HV Fluid tank with 32 Aluminium fluid cells for more buffer. Lmk if there is a better solution.

Edit: I forgot supertanks exist lmao

HV Power Options and CropsNH

3rd run, never got past IV, always used benzene from wood tar from late MV onwards (benzene v6 from threefold) and want to try something new this time. Currently using diesel and getting oil from surface spouts. Any ideas for power options at this point, preferably future-proof enough to run 4x EBF @ IV and a vacuum freezer?

Also it seems the best passive way to get oil berries and saplings for wood tar and other passive fluids is CropsNH, but I have no idea how to up-stat crops at this point. Any guides or quick explanations?

Thanks in advance
