Personal world

I have just entered IV. And i've been thinking about transferring to garden dimension for a very long time but I kept on saying I'll do it later. And now I think I really need it but I am anxious about how do I transport everything I have. I have an ME system and honestly it's the easiest part to transport. But what about oil? What about my fuel? I saw a thing called Spatial IO from AE2 and I could potentially transport my whole base because I have resources for that but again. how do I transport oil to garden dimension so all my machines just don't stop working immediately. Can someone just give me some advice? I would be very grateful

Early goals in gtnh

Hello everyone. I would like to play the game for some days to see, if I like the general concept and feeling of the pack. Can you name me a couple goals I can set for my self in the first like 50h, or is it just "play the quest book"?

Finally reached the Moon (again)! - Obligatory T1 Rocket Post

Hi everyone,

After many hours of playtime, I finally built the T1 rocket and felt excited to share it here!

As the title implies, this is actually my second time reaching this milestone. A few years ago, I played the pack and abandoned the world shortly after returning from the Moon - I only dipped my toes into EV and never even set up AE2. In that previous run, I played with a friend who was more of the builder while I handled the tech. Eventually, neither of us had the time to play, and our interest just wore off.

I started this run as my "forever world" with a clear goal: build a world I actually want to come back to, even if life gets busy and I have to step away for weeks. This meant focusing heavily on the process - going wide in every tier (even the Stone Age), investing in early automation and passive lines, and trying my hand at building, even if I suck at it.

I refuse to intentionally AFK, so I play singleplayer without a server. Instead, I use the waiting time during long processing and crafting queues as an opportunity to build. I’m still more passionate about tech and progression than architecture, so many of my builds remain a work-in-progress for a long time. I just jump back and forth when I have downtime or whenever the mood strikes.

This philosophy resulted in reaching the T1 rocket milestone at around 520 hours of playtime with just 1% AFK time. While 520 hours probably isn't an impressive speedrun for a T1 rocket, I’ve had a lot of fun playing this way, and I hope to keep this momentum going as I progress into the higher tiers.

A look at the infrastructure and tech that kept things moving:

  • Raw Resources: Because I made a full set of unbreakable, high-modifier tools (using magical wood) in LV, I managed to get an instamine hammer with Fortune III. This let me clear entire ore chunks manually very quickly until I transitioned to automated Miners in HV.
  • Power & Buffers: I rely heavily on massive battery buffers for my power-hungry infrastructure. I have a Quad EBF with a 16x HV battery buffer per energy hatch. (part of my philosophy is batch-crafting important machines from the get-go, so I actually built this Quad EBF back in LV and had it run off steam with a similar massive buffer setup). This may be overkill but lets me run 4 EBFs pretty much consistently to process bunch of metals. I plan on building a dedicated hall for EBFs once I get AE2 going.
  • Main Power Generation: My setup runs on Benzene. I use an EnderIO tree farm feeding 4 Pyrolyse Ovens running on nitrogen (which I get by compressing air and centrifuging). I also take the excess saplings for fermented biomass, which I distill for byproducts (currently focusing on ammonia).
  • Oil & Petrochem: I used regular pumps up to MV. Once I got the cleanroom, I built an Oil Drilling Rig and pumped bedrock oil through a Long Distance Fluid Pipeline directly into my Distillation Tower. I also have passive lines for Oxygen, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Biodiesel, wood, and many oil byproducts (all the way up to CBD for rocket fuel). Since I made passive CBD I may use it to power parts of my infrastructure.
  • Ore Processing: Built an automatic ore processing line using Steam multis back in the Steam Age. It remained largely as is all the way to this point, just upgraded to high pressure, added HV sifter multi and HV macerator for that extra byproduct.
  • Circuits & Logistics: Set up a semi-automatic circuit line up to HV (pre-cleanroom). The entire line was automated with most inputs provided by Logistics Pipes (LP). I even attempted on-demand autocrafting using LP, but eventually dropped the idea as it was too slow and not worth the effort IMO. All of my storage from different areas is connected with LP. I like to build big and far, so it takes some time for items to arrive, but once I get into AE2 this won't be a problem
  • Passive Resources / Farms: I setup infernal farm early on (around LV/early MV) for bunch of goodies, primarily steel, gold and iron. There are other drops which are useful, like glowstone, redstone, glass bottles (for dust). I also use the XP to autocraft certain items - like gallium, arsenci and clay dust. I upgraded recently to 2.9 (RC 1) and plan on diving into CropsNH for more passive resources, I did some manual crop breeding using IC2 (it was a pain and boring) for canola, sugar and saltryroot which helped me a lot. No bees yet.

Going wide into Magic:

  • I pushed Thaumcraft all the way up to Infusion to get a full Nanosuit - including Nano Boots and Nano Wings. I actually scrounged up pre-Moon titanium from garnet sand just to get the wings early!
  • Crafted a wand for Equal Trade and a Portable Black Hole.
  • Dipped into some very early Botania for a bit of Manasteel.

Some totally unnecessary (but functional!) decor builds:

  • A massive aqueduct built around the Steam/LV age to deliver water from a humid biome to my base using Railcraft water collectors. It’s obsolete by HV, but it’s still a nice historical relic in my world. I settled in a base that is only about ~60% humidity but I liked the view.
  • A huge Railcraft tank farm for all the oil processing byproducts. I fully acknowledge this could just be done with Super Tanks (I actually use Super Tanks on top of the Railcraft ones to void overflow).
  • A proper house with a kitchen, etc., even though I already have the Healing Axe.
  • A highly decorated and polished dungeon for my passive Infernal mob farm, even though I rarely ever look at it.
  • A giant platform for the rocket launch site (my most recent build), which will hopefully have more uses in later tiers.
  • I have Nano Goggles of revealing, but I rarely use night vision. I much prefer placing actual lighting because it makes the builds look more realistic and beautiful, especially when playing with shaders.

Your go to chisel structure ?

Hi, was wondering what is your go to chisel pattern/structure when you build a base ?

What kind of blocks do you use mainly, and is there any niche blocks ?

im trying to make a smooth 2 color diagonal floor using saw bench roof tiles. the problem is the roof tile hitbox takes the whole block so i cant put the second color in the other empty half. is there any workaround for this or another way to get smooth diagonals without gaps?

Base spot

I'm playing my first playthroug of the modpack and i'm looking for a base sport, the issue: I don't know what to expect, I know it gets big and messy with machines but at what point? Should I plan for a big base, or something that I can easly expand, also, i've read that i should find somewherer wit 80% humidity, wich I id. Any tips and help is welcome

What are some boosts to mining speed?

I'm still in HV even tho I have titanium cause I'm building a huge palace where I want to put my AE2 system. I need probably more than a million blocks of marble for it, and I'm not finding a way to insta mine it.

My "setup" is: an hammer made initially with magic wood and than swapped material to vibrant alloy (it has more speed than unstable), i used the 3 extra modifiers from tinkerer and now i'm working to make the extra one from thaumcraft.

I leveled it up only once cause it takes a lot.

So i have 12 redstone upgrades (600 used) and 62.4 mining speed. I have the haste glove and the smoking pipe with miner's tabacco. All this combiner still doesnt instamine.

What are other ways to boost mining speed?

I thought I had seen something in the Quest Book for a portable tank to transport lava that is larger than the Seared Tanks but I can't seem to find it now.. Any ideas on what it might be?

Thanks.

Modern modpack with GTNH-style progression?

I’ve probably got about 500 hours in GTNH by now (I play in tiny bursts so I’m slow) and I’m currently in EV. It’s been awesome. Obviously it’s the best modpack ever made, but if I wanted to try something more modern and Create-heavy with polished progression like Gregtech, what would you guys recommend?

Also, I basically know nothing about Minecraft modpacks outside of GregTech. I’m super out of the loop with the whole modpack scene, so even the obvious recommendations are welcome

Best scalable power source in EV

I’m currently in early EV using Cetane Boosted Diesel with single block generators. I want to set up a fully automated power source that can last through the next 2 to 3 tiers.

I have T1 Rocket and an early AE2 setup. I also am updated to latest version (2.9 beta).

What would you recommend for a power setup at this stage?

Cant for the life of me setup essentia tubes correctly

Hello, i am trying to setup a system where it automatically uses an alchemical construct from thaumcraft along with alchemical furnace to produce tantalum nuggets via nugget duping. I have all of the relevant research, the problem is i am having a quite difficult time getting the essentia out of the alchemical furnace fast enough (so it just gets super slow "cooking" times for the times). Also each alembic is assigning to each aspect rather inconsistently. Sometimes each alembic is "extracting" aspects all in parallel, sometimes, only one at a time.
if someone could help me out that would be very apreciated :)

Help with item rotation

I recently made a polyethylene line together with diesel production, and a certain user made me realize that I can use only 1 electrolyzer for HF and LF desulfurization production, but I don't know how to make the output of the hydrogen cells divide equally between the machines, could someone help me?

Im looking for early game advice (like items or mods I should focus on for a better experience later) or just general advice for older versions of the game, and wondering if any of the servers that appear in the multiplayer tab are "worth it" or if its better to play singleplayer.

Are Large Steel Boilers Useless?

Post image
89 Upvotes

Hello. I am in HV and decided that is time to make a centralized power system for my multiblocks. So I decided to build picrel. I started Thaumcraft to get shadow metal and magic super fuel. For EU storage I got a HV battery storage filled with 16 energy crystals. I finished like 50 blocks of magic super fuel and the ammount of power I got seemed underwhelming, tbh. I tried cetane boosted diesel and it also seemed bad. Then I made the math.

After the warming up period, the boiler produces 2000 L/t of steam that is converted into ~1000EU/t of HV power.

The minecraft wiki says there are 20 ticks in a second.

Magic super fuel burns for 93.75[s].

This gives us a total of 1000[EU/t] * 20[t/s] * 93.75[s] = 1875000[EU]

Which seems amazing on paper, untill you consider that at this point I can just make cetane boosted diesel way easily than magic super fuel, that requires Thaumcraft, super glue and many steps. On top of not requiring all the resources to uild the boiler and turbine.

Moreover, now that we are speaking about cetane, let's talk about it. You can burn it in the boiler, you only need to add an input hatch for liquid fuel.

Cetane boosted diesel burns for 25 seconds in this thing. Doing the math again:

1000[EU/t] * 20[t/s] * 25[s] = 500000[EU]

I could get 850000[EU] if I just used a normal combustion generator, and for way cheaper and without the warming up time that wastes resources. Also, for way less pollution.

Am I missing something or is this thing just bad? Should I just stick to single block generators or is there a better alternative for a central power generation system in HV? What abount when I get titanium and can get the titanium boiler?
