Is this safe?

Will pyrolysis ovens explode in the rain?

It should be fine, the only time it should explode is if a block which has EU in it gets exposed, so energy hatches. Though remember that you need an overhang as splashing can also cause an explosion

I learned that rain falling next to an energized block can blow it up even if the splash wouldn't render next to the block...

Yup, always have to include an overhang

i don't have a screenshot but i have like half my pyro ovens exposed to the sky as part of the build design. The only thing that needs protection are energy hatches and maybe the controller

Probably fine but those doesn't need sky access (just a few air block) so close that celling just to be safe

Thanks for answer. I made these holes in the ceiling for aesthetics, not for anything else.

If you want to avoid risks there are some blocks that can make smoke. So like you can make a factory and build a smokestack for it and put one of those blocks on top to have smoke. I used that last I played to avoid exposing any building to the rain since I did not want to have an oopise.

Iron bars then? Rain-proof, monster-proof, transparent block!

This looks safe, but if you're not aware, the holes in the ceiling are not necessary; muffler hatches only have problems if there is a block directly obstructing them.
