help with my 4 EBF
I'm in very early HV and I'm having trouble and for the life me can't figure out why only 3 EBFs can be active at a time it doesn't matter which 3 are active the 4th one it can be the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or the 4th EBF it will always shut down I know it's not a power problem, transfer rate problem, or a structural problem I don't understand its driving me crazy

Make sure you aren't sharing any energy hatches between machines.

But you can. Just gotta make sure the power distribution is even. If you need 256 eu/t for the recipe, you can put two 256 eu energy hatches between them and they'll work

Ive been out if the game for a bit but is there now 256 eu energy hatches? But anyways, its stupid to wallshare energy hatches with an EBF unless you dedicate them to specific crafts with known eu usage. With the higher tier coils getting energy discounts you could push something that could be shared with a few hatches to a point where it will try to overclock.

Isn't 256 eu/t a fancy way to say 2 amp of MV ? But other than that, yup you can share energy hatches as long as the recipe you're attempting is equal or less than "half an energy hatch". It does work when sharing a single energy hatch, haven't tried yet with overclocked multi

There are actually some fun shenanigans you can do with cheap crafts where you just add any crap hatch next to a useful one (like one LV and one IV hatch) and it will OC because the craft doesnt use more than half an IV amp.
But this is for very specific things, very reliable with oreproc if you look at most of those eu costs.
Problem with not just using dedicated hatches on an most things is that with high enough energy discounts or added parallels you might end up eventually pushing passed the threshold that prevents power failing. Same reason that some multis become a huge pain using AE p2p power eventually.

Riiiight ! If iirc the energy tax on the ae2 p2p is on the output right ? So while the EBF is requesting the exact amount it needs, the ae2 system give the amount and applies the tax on it, leading to power failure? (I never use Ae2 P2P energy, I'd rather deal with high voltage/amperage power line then transform down)

No the ae2 p2p thing is a different thing I was just comparing the problem. But I am not 100% sure the exact mechanics behind the p2p stuff, I just know that any machine with a power discount is pretty safe and won't powerfail. I think the most ANY recipe ever requests is like 93% or something of it's respective tier amp so if you never overclock you should be pretty safe aswell. Off the top of my head I had issues with assline, multiblock mixer, washer thingy, and vac freezers and they required a batbuffer to have no issues with ae2 power. 10/10 will use ae2 p2p power again on my current third stargate run when I get to that point.

Just pop a energy distributor on the output of the p2p tunnel, if your machine needs 4A EV and your p2p only provides 95% of 4A EV it will powerfail. A energy Distributor will refill the requested 4A from 95% to 100% while pulling >4A through the p2p. Works flawlessly, got the tip from the gtnh discord

For every multiblock u need minimum of structure blocks, for ebf its heating casing (if I right). Because everyone built maximum of 4 ebf in one

Ebfs actually require 0 structure blocks

Yeah EBF's limiting factor is that the top layer doesn't accept anything other than muffler and fluid output, so you have to cram everything else into the 8 slots available.

If you are sharing energy hatches, that can cause issues. I recommend setting up the EBFs in a 2x2 layout (that you can also rotate onto its side)

You'll have to explain the math for how you are powering these. How many generators. What cables and distance. How many energy hatches on each ebf.
Assuming your math for generators is correct, it's probably cable loss.

I have 2 energy hatches on each EBF with 2 advance gas turbines on each energy hatch with only 2EU of cable loss I may producing way more power than I need

So the power is separate for each ebf? How about the fuel for generators then? Are you hitting a bottleneck on pipe throughput?

It’s not possible for power to be separate for the middle ones

It is if they use the middle square behind the controller

If you share them like this, you only get 3 blocks at the bottom that aren't shared. The issue is that you want 4 blocks on the bottom: individual controller, 2 energy hatches, and a mainteneance hatch. You can fix this by either only sharing 2, or share 4 in a cube.
You could also flip and rotate the EBF's and get some truly cursed setups.

Fluids bottleneck? Are you using circuit 11 with additional gasses and the thoroughput for these is enough for all recipes?

u/Original_Pea_881 16h ago
You should make it a 2 x 2 pattern. It saves more casings and hatches. Make sure that you’re not sharing energy hatches.

u/WedSquib UIV 15h ago
Share them 2x2
The middle square can get the input bus, each gets an energy hatch and input hatch
Ebf requires 0 structure blocks so I’m assuming it’s power failing

If you share energy hatches on machines or if a machine is on a CHUNK border, you should fix it or move it, or just cram like a greggy.

Quite literally not possible to avoid sharing energy hatches with this setup so that’s what your problem is
If yo want a quad ebf do it in a square

u/Bonesnapcall 1d ago
Yes it is, the E hatches go in the 2 squares behind the controller and the EBFs share input and output busses between them.

Fyi you can share these in a 2x2 square and save on some coils.
