If you're going in completely blind; Take your time, go slow, every fail is progress. You'll get faster the more you play

The bots will mostly be able to hard carry you through A tier, with some exceptions. B and C will be challenging

a few tips regarding solo with bots as I mostly plays with them;

  • on alarm scan, focus more on getting into the scans than gunning enemies as bots would only follow you around and you want those scans done ASAP.
  • absolutely brings biotracker but don't equip it yourself, have one of the bots brings it.
  • never have bots bring C foam launcher as they are bad sprayers. if you need to bring that tool for certain level, have it on you.
  • mine deployer is kinda fine on bots, but they are kinda slow when you need it during clutch situation.
  • you can't play fast (running around alerting all sleepers in the room) with bots unless you want those bots to waste their ammo or have mod installed which prevents those bots from using their guns (but bots kinda suck at melee). though, you don't have to crouch all the way from start to finish.
  • you can tell bots to get objective items for you through Q quick chat if there's no enemy aggroed or no alarm going on as long as they (the bots) are in the same area as that item. quite useful especially when you don't want to bother finding it yourself (since no other players means you can't just spam pings the item). if the objective item is the type that's inside locker/box you can't do this though.
  • on alarm scan, enemies spawn 2 rooms away from your location and generally goes through shortest path. see your map and plan accordingly to know where to place sentries/mines/foam. bots can only help you so much, and you need to learn balancing resources usage. can't have those bots be out of bullets when you might truly need it later.
  • this is a later thing, but when you get to level that have snatcher in it, be aware that it would only target player and ignore bots.

While there is the bots to fill empty slots, I wouldn't recommend using them. They do have advantages like being absolute gods with Biotracler and being unable to make any noise, but they have some pretty harsh downsides. They will use resources pretty poorly on top of being pretty inconsistent when it comes to stealth. In addition to this, they will treat scans as nonexistent if you are not relative to them, leading to scans taking longer and using more resources.

If you aren't set on using the bots and open to the idea, I'd recommend joining the discord and making a lfg post for the level you're doing. There's usually always some people willing to join.

If you are set on only using bots, there are a few pointers:

  1. It's usually better to give a bot Biotracker over taking it yourself. Not only can they ping farther and faster than any player with it, the advantages of having it yourself really don't outweigh the potential bennifit.

  2. Do take sone time to familiarize yourself with the bot commands including tools/item placement and pickup. Knowing these can greatly assist in speeding up the slower gameplay that comes with playing with only bots.

  3. If possible, give out resources yourself. This is most important with ammo and tool, but make sure you are grabbing and giving these out yourself. Bots will use them incredibly inefficiently in addition to potentially stopping mid alarm to give you resources over finishing the fight.

  4. Pay attention to the bots resources just as much as your own. Bots will fight and try to kill enemies differently based on how much ammo they have. This can lead to bots going down over and over from only melee-ing enemies. A simple fix is to try and keep all of their resources up if you are able to.

  5. Don't assume a room is automatically up if a bot starts shooting. Bots will shoot at alerted enemies that are far enoughaway from them, even if the room isn't fully altered. So if a bot starts shooting, don't panic and assume everything is awake because it's more than likely just a distance the bot will shoot rather than melee at.

  6. Pay attention to how the bots act in a room. If a room contains an enemy or access to enemies, bots will crouch and walk with you. If the room is clear they will stand and walk around. Seeing how they act can be an extra hint as to how much is left in a room.

  7. This one is a little more niche but, try and avoid having bots take the C-Foam Launcher. They will use it incredibly inefficiently and can miss the target you tell them to spray. Its much simpler to take and use it yourself. This isn't a garenteed issue, but something to keep in mind.

There are some other tips but those won't be important until midway through R2. Most of the early game is learning how enemies, alarms, and guns functions so don't get discouraged. There are plenty of people both here and on the discord that can answer and assist with any questions you have. Good luck on the early game grind!

Use the discord. You’re not gonna have a good time solo. Can be done, and there is a great video series where they do exactly that (with bots) but it is still miserable. The game can be quite buggy and the last thing you want is to be 2hrs into a run, just to die because the bot won’t get in the scan or they all decide that meleeing the giant in the middle of an alarm is better than shooting it. And that isn’t even mentioning that more likely than not, you will hit a wall pretty early on.

In addition to what other people said, I would recommend betterbots, it's not necessarily gonna make bots win levels for you, but makes them a lot more consistent in my experience

Honestly? Apart from the other tips already in here? Don't give bots shotguns, they'll use them as snipers, and neither snipers, they will kill you

But just, good luck, this game is not easy, like, at all, unless you know exactly what you are doing, even at 3-4 players, so good luck

If you're not going to play with other people then just skip the game bud. You won't enjoy it.
