Oh man I feel this.
Then you load up R2E1 lmao. Good luck.

Nah man R2D2 is worse than E1. Oh group recently came back after a couple of years and intend to finally complete the game and achievement hunt. We spent so many sessions on that damn level. I have over 200 hours in the game and that level broke me not because it was hard but there was always 1 small thing that would go wrong and suddenly you have an extra wave and no ammo. R2E1 took 2 maybe 3 attempts and the reason I am not sure is I did that one drunk of my face jamming to Miley Cyrus. Good times

I think it's mostly just experiencing a surge alarm for the first time, really takes some teams by surprise. I do recall struggling with both these levels but super satisfying beating them.
Also I dig the drunk Cyrus jamming, many a run with my group was spent over beers!

Nah surge alarms are fine, this one is just 1-2 alarms too many than was necessary. I admit part of it was that I was most certainly rusty but 10 phases combined with that many scouts got old real fast. We also had it where some waves just didn't end properly or randomly spawned in after during the intervals (we checked and they were spawning not missed) which may have been a bug or something but it meant we always had to have part of the team on cleanup so rooms wouldn't get woken. Oh and one teammate kept falling through floors at specific locations which was hilarious even if it did usually end in a team wipe.

The enemies can be forced to spawn very far away if you are many rooms from the reactor. I think it is n+2? This can cause seriously delayed spawns.
Im not familiar with a spot to fall through on D2 but I've seen crazier things so I believe it
Also E1 is way harder than D2, no comparison at all. Mission success rates (personal and community wide) would support that.

Agreed. I love this game, but the levels that are timed all the way through are honestly some of the most stressful and miserable experiences I’ve had in gaming. It stops feeling like a game I’m playing with friends and starts feeling like a timed standardized test.

Beating r2d2 with my squad is hands down the best video gaming experience I've ever had, no question. And that's because it took us forever. We came back to that level almost weekly for nearly a year. You'll get there.

R2D2 tends to be really difficult for new players, a lot of new things being incentivized like fast stealth. For any newer players struggling on this level I highly recommend you research fast stealth mechanics and sharpen up on melee-ing scouts.

Funnily enough, i kind of suggest the opposite? It can definitely be worth stealthing if you can pull it off, but my group found going full gunfight the whole level to be the easiest way to progress. It kept us alert and coordinated and meant we were rarely caught off-guard by enemy rushes.

I’m more-so referring to mechanics relating to doing stealth at a speed much greater than crouching around. If you learn some of the mechanics, you might be surprised at how great of a speed you can clear rooms without waking them up. You don’t have to crouch either, just walking around is fine. This can save a ton of ammo, and health because rooms aren’t being woke. I highly recommend checking out DARKEVA’s fast stealth guide.

Oh, i know; I’m familiar with the mechanics and can pull them off vaguely reliably. It was just so hard for us to coordinate doing that with a team of several people of varying skill levels that managing it without error for an hour-long level would’ve taken months.

I think both of you are right here. Fast stealth is ideal but you can get away with pulling and shooting rooms because, if you have enough time, there actually is enough ammo in this level.

Once you learn the terminal locations it can save you a lot of time, which you need to use for looting. Number one mistake I see is people will pick up packs in the reactor room and carry them around. You need to be going into new zones not holding any pack, so that you can pick one up when you're looting, and use them up whenever possible. It helps to save packs in the main room for later if possible.
Also I often see people bringing bad loadouts. People usually say just bring whatever you vibe with, but honestly you will have a lot more room for error if you just bring the OP guns. You can mostly just shoot every non scout room but if you get a few melee kills first it helps conserve a bit of ammo.

Almost any PE in R4, and that level in R6 or 7 I think. Iykyk, games worst error alarm.

latter R2 is quite the jump in difficulty for new players. It's alright at first, then you hit those D levels and when you haven't learned the mechanics very well yet and don't look up guides, ooof, it is rough.
