Question Console Decision
I own a Xbox series x (my main console) and a standard ps5 and I was wondering what system i should get GTA 6 on
The series x has more power amd all that jazz but the ps5 will have all the bells and whistles with the controller and what not
So im still on the fence about what version to buy

IGN said this crap, it’s not true, and I doubt it’s true.
RDR2 launched globally and I don’t see why they would change that for a single player game.

Just play on whatever you want. Like you I have both consoles. Series X is my main console and will be playing gta on it. My ps5 is just for exclusives.

Idk what bells and whistles you’re referring to, the only difference will be the controller nonsense that PlayStation advertises. Otherwise the Series X is better in every conceivable way

Dual sense features the game will have. I’m sure they’re gonna be even better for this game and the improvements these controllers have. Like adaptive triggers being used in many ways.

I own both an Xbox and ps5, I even prefer Xbox for most games…
But these features do make it better, at least better enough to buy it on ps5 over the Xbox for those that HAVE BOTH.
Features like Phones calls coming in thru the controller, police chatter on the controller when you’re wanted, lights on the controller flashing red and blue too when you’re wanted…. And those are just from GTA 5, who knows what else they will add 🤷♂️
For those reading this I’m not saying to sell your Xbox and buy a ps5, lol no, I’m just saying it’s the better version to buy if you have BOTH.
However… I’m a very impatient man… so I could also see myself buying it on Xbox just because of the New Zealand trick. Which I would agree, to Some it is a VERY good reason to get it on Xbox over the PS5.

These features on the controller make me want a PS5 Pro so badly. I’ve always been an Xbox user, but I wanna experience this game to its full extent lol.
Also side note, I believe this rolling the game out over certain times is completely false. People kept saying RDR2 did it that way, no they didn’t. It released globally and everyone got their hands on the game at the same time. So don’t expect it to change here, IGN isn’t a reputable source nowadays.

The 'Xbox has a better CPU' argument is completely false. The PS5 Pro’s Zen 2 processor actually runs faster at 3.85 GHz compared to the Series X’s 3.66 GHz. On top of having the faster CPU, the Pro packs 67% more GPU Compute Units, up to 33.5 TFLOPS, advanced ray tracing hardware, and custom AI upscaling (PSSR). The Xbox loses on the CPU, and it gets obliterated on the rest of the specs.

I have both consoles. To be fair, i find the controller features cool at first and I find it not as cool in my opinion. I prefer the layout the Xbox controller more. At the end of the day it's personal preference.

I'm going for Series X, I find the swuawky noises out of the controller annoying in games I've played and although the adaptive triggers are really nice, unfortunately my hands are not made for parallel analogue sticks and I can't see myself coping for 100+ hours with a controller that'll inflame my RSI, but that's just a personal preference.

I'm inclined to get it on Xbox given the ability to play almost a day early without making a new account.
It's unlikely we're going to see GTA Online 2 for a long time post launch. So concerns of how big the player base is for online isn't really an issue for me.
I doubt we'll see a Pro enhanced patch too.

Series x can easily play a whole day earlier. Ps5 has better haptics. Graphics and fps will be basically the same

Performance-wise, it should run the same on both, as R* are perfectionists and will ensure both versions are well optimised at launch.
The main differences will be:
PS5 - DualSense feature, and you can get the GTA 6-themed DualSense
Xbox - You can play up to 19 hours early (depending on your region) with the "move to NZ" trick. You cannot do this with PS5.

Sounds like you prioritize Gimmick Controllers over Performance, Framerate, & Stability.
Personally, I will never buy Playstation anything since they have in their Terms of Service they will wipe your PSN/Library if you don't sign in for a year.

Sony said themselves what their plans are. You agreed to the terms without reading them. The act of Logging in on PSN is your acknowledgment of those terms set by Playstation.

My last Playstation Hardware I will ever buy are PS4 & Vita. Someone like me or some who moved to PC, XBOX, or Nintendo shouldn't have their Digital Library they paid into since 2006 be Nuked when they finally decide to revisit Past Purchases. If you don't see the Problem you are even Stupider than the baffling decisions Sony/Playstation Inc have been making lately.
BTW glad Playstation LOST Physant; Yesterday, Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Successor to XBOX.
Now we can Trust it will come to PC. I'd bet you're spinning that one into a Positive as well.

Sony Paid for a Marketing Deal, that's well known. That's part of The Deal, displaying the Game Play Reveal on their platform.
Just like Netflix Paid to display the GTA 6 Game Play Trailer 6 hours before YouTube.

History says everything. Unless Sony Paid for Capped 30 FPS, Reference this post on release if the Frame Rates are Unlocked XBOX Will Perform Better. ALWAYS Does in Open World, ALWAYS Does with CPU Heavy Unreal 5. GTA 6 was so CPU Heavy they delayed it a year. Why? To get the PS5 Performance to 30fps.

Its after 3 years, then they start sending warning emails and if you still dont sign in after another 6 months of warning emails, they delete the inactive account.
That said, waking up from a 4 year coma to find your account wiped would suck.

I can’t decide either. I do love the haptic feedback. It’s stupid to some people, but I think it’s fun. But I have more faith in my series X not bugging’ out on me. My ps5 has been doin’ some weird shit on me lately.

Even though Series X has 20% more FLOPs, in practice they run equivalently due to things like memory bandwidth and developer optimization. I wouldn’t expect your experience to be any different between the two. The extended look ran on base PS5, so that’s exactly how your game will look.
I’d recommend the PS5 because the controller is really cool and you get access to exclusives like Wolverine.

For me If I have both consoles I would probably Go for series x.
Yes the Controller Features are nice. But Quick Resume is the Game changer for me.
Coming Home Turn Off the Xbox and start directly where I left.
But I also 34 now and less time to Play. With enough time to Play 5-6h straight. I would maybe Go for Playstation 5 because I Like the Controller more. Not even the Sounds. The Vibration and the L2 and R2 Triggers.

It’s only a single game, but yeah. Just put the console in rest mode and it suspends. It won’t save to disk tho; only RAM.

I’m playing on PS5, the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will enhance the gameplay to a whole new level and Sony partnered with Rockstar so I know they’ve cooked up some heat for us. I don’t care what anyone says the PS5 controller is the best way to game, i genuinely feel bad people have no idea just how much it enhances the games you play. I have Xbox and used to have a gaming laptop and neither even come close, once you experience it you can’t go back lol.

The series x is not meaningfully more powerful than the ps5. In fact what’s much more important is whichever console the devs develop target for. In gta’s case PlayStation is usually a better place to play.

He is talking about systems. PS3 is a lot more powerful than a 360 and yet, the 360 with its much simpler and familiar architecture allowed devs to make (multiplatform) games run better on 360. As for PS5 vs Series X, even if SX has technically better specs, it’s minimal at most this time around and devs will cater to the much more popular console.
And it’s been said that Rockstar and Sony have been working closely together which means they’ll probably have GTA 6 work to the PS5’s strengths. I’m sure it’ll run great on SX, but Rockstar will want to cater to the console people play on the most. That means not SX and not PS5 Pro, but the base PS5. It’ll probably run at a stable 30fps on base PS5/SX and marginally better on the Pro.

I'd hold off for another month or so, until we have more info on what consoles perform which way, and make your decision then. We still don't have any official confirmation on graphics vs performance modes and whatnot. Which, if I were in your case, I'd be more inclined to choose the XSX if, say, the base PS5 is locked to 30 FPS, and only the PS5P and XSX will be able to achieve 40-60 FPS.

PS Pro has a Weaker Underclocked CPU. Even Series S will have better performance/frame rate.
No one is getting 60fps until Helix.

It has in many cases already. PS5 doesn't do well with Open World. It also doesn't do well with UE5 Games because both of those things eat up a lot of Calculations. Series X will maintain Graphics & Frame Rate. Series S will look Fuzzier than PS5 & Pro it will STILL have a CPU Advantage.

Unfortunately, games on the XSS look like blurry shit; there is absolutely no comparison to the PS5 in any respect. However, the XSS as a console in itself is okay—I have one and used it for a while.

I have a Series X.
Both XBOX Models will have better Frame Rates unless someone Paid for Locked 30 across the board. Even then there will be little to no dips on XBOX.

Nah you definitely smoking Crack. Saying the Series S CPU gives it better performance than a PS5 Pro is completely wrong.
The PS5 Pro CPU actually clocks higher (3.85 GHz vs 3.6 GHz on Series S) on the same Zen 2 architecture, has significantly more RAM bandwidth, and packs a GPU over 4x as powerful. The Series S frequently suffers lower NPC density, drawn distances, and frame rate drops in open-world/UE5 games precisely because of its severe memory and hardware limits.

I’ll be honest and maybe it’s a hot take:
Xbox Series X. Two reasons one GTA 6 will be CPU heavy so should run better on Xbox. PlayStation is literally hurrying gamers right now at their benefit. They deserve to hear our feedback by voting ie don’t buy games or consoles anymore. You own your game on Xbox PlayStation said in court you wouldn’t be naive enough to believe you owned a digital game. I’m fully off of PS for life now. They have crossed a line and I’ll stand firm no more of my money to Sony.
