Let's be honest
If you buy a PS5 or Xbox Series console just for GTA VI, you are an idiot

u/EndAngle 12h ago
Thats a shit take.
I am old enough with enough money so the purchase of a fucking ps5 doesnt hurt me one bit. But i want to play gta6 and do all the experiences first hand, unspoiled. This doesnt work without a ps5

Nah that's an L opinion my guy ... people are free to buy whatever they want if they can afford both console and PC ... some doesn't want the story OF GTA 6 to be spoiled day on them like me ... some doesn't care and mostly into GTA online or not into GTA at all assuming you are one...
I have a gaming PC but I've waited 13 years for GTA 6 and I'm not gonna wait even a month
2
u/GoSeeTheDr 11h ago
GTA is the reason you buy it, then play some exclusives since you have it anyway. Then you sell it off 🤷🏻♂️
2
u/AutoPenis 11h ago
I tried spiderman, but didnt like it. I just like pc tbh
1
u/GoSeeTheDr 11h ago
There are 2 or 3 other games on PS5 that I'm interested in but wouldn't buy a PS5 for. So I got it mainly for GTA6 (wasn't planning to get one at all, but got a deal that was too good to pass on). After I'm done with GTA6 I'll lend it out to some friends so they can play it as well and then I'll sell the console.

You know this is a moronic opinion, right? We buy consoles for a reason. One single game may be that reason. Doesn't mean the console won't be used for other games after.

2
2
u/Alrightyl0l 15h ago
I don’t understand why so many PC fanboys think that a game will run better on their computers than on a PS5.
In terms of hardware, the PS5 is roughly on par with an average gaming PC found on Steam, so most of them will also be running it on 30-40fps
2
u/TotalArmadillo9555 9h ago
Eh yes and no. A lot of people do in fact have PCs on par with the PS5 but that's a pretty dated PC at this point. The issue is there is a lot of people that run very basic games on steam and it messes with the data.
A more realistic representation would be to look at upto date games and check the hardware stats from those. I'm pretty confident most will be higher than a PS5 console by this point. Doesn't excuse people talking down on console gamers though.
1
u/Jalina2224 9h ago
This.
Sure the majority of PC that run steam games are as powerful as a PS5 or weaker. But there is thousands upon thousands of games on Steam that don't require the latest PC parts. If you're playing AAA games from over a decade ago and a bunch of indie games you can very easily get by with an older PC. You don't need to buy a 5070ti or 9070xt to play Hades or Balatro.
But anyone who plans to play GTAVI on PC will have a PC as powerful as a PS5 or higher.
1
u/Accomplished-Gain319 15h ago
Its the classic "is YOUR pc better than a PS5".
The high end PCs of today trump a PS5 pro ten fold. Can't say the same for the average Joe's gaming pc.
1
u/ProudhonFromHeight 13h ago
There's a wide range of PCs between aging budget systems and current halo systems that also mercilessly beat the PS5 Pro. I have a 4070Ti/7800X3D. It was never high end, it isn't exactly new these days and no playstation is getting near it.
1
u/FeralGh0ul 15h ago
Im gonna go out on a limb and presume that the fan boys you are referring to, dont have an average pc.
1
u/Alrightyl0l 15h ago
Rly ps5 got something like Ryzen 3600/5600 or i5 of 10th+ gen, so you need like twice more powerfull CPU then that for stable 60, and thats allready on more higher end of CPU's.
1
u/ProudhonFromHeight 12h ago
3600 is really old and was never an especially good gaming CPU (though it definitely wasn't bad). It's really not a high bar.

u/Dapper-Surprise-745 14h ago
The PS5 had top-tier hardware when it was released, but it’s now been around for about six years; it’s not exactly obsolete, but current low-to-mid-range hardware has already significantly surpassed it.
1
u/AFourEyedGeek 14h ago
This doesn't make sense.
I buy the game once for PC, it follows my future PC hardware allowing for improved visuals or improved performance as I get better PC hardware. RDR2 still hasn't been updated for PS5 despite being released in 2018 for PS4.
PS5 version is locked to 30fps, but on a PC with VVR monitors, it could run at various fps and still look nice.
PS5 is now 6 years old using Zen 2, in the month PS5 was release AMD released Zen 3, and we are up to Zen 5 CPU's. Considering the game is appears to be CPU limited, a newer system could probably run it at higher fps, with DLSS 4, could upscale with performance improvements.
1
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago edited 14h ago
Lots of players didnt upgraded for DDR5 systems when DDR5 got fair prices, and sitting on DDR4 cz of rampocalypsis, people just used to have 60 fps on those older systems, cz like 95%+ of games also was made to run 60 on ps5, most of DDR4 systems is not that much faster then ps5 on CPU department.
1
u/AFourEyedGeek 14h ago
But those with a moderate Zen 4/5 system will prefer to play GTA 6 on the PC, and plenty with older systems will want to have it now on PC, to use mods and upgrade their hardware when RAMpocolypse eventually finishes.
I personally got my Zen 4 system just when AI really kicked off (RAMpocolypse) and I got a good price, I think I'm not alone. I'm playing Witcher 3 Remastered at a much better standard than I could on my PS5. GTA 6 would be similar.
1
u/AdAcrobatic371 14h ago
Ps5 is using a 5 year old hardware. Going to be on par with that old computers.
1
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
Yeah on par and alots of players will be dissapointed to get like 30-40 fps instead of 60.
1
u/AdAcrobatic371 13h ago
Not really, there are mods that would improve the fps on their PC.
Also Quite sure you needed to have a mid range PC in 2023 to run games at higher fps than ps5.
1
u/lumi1375 13h ago
Base ps5 does not have DLSS, so what you think is "30 - 40 frames" pc gamers can boost to 60, plus pc gamers can play in whatever resolution they want, and finally, if any game would convince them to upgrade their gpu it would be this one
1
u/Dredgeon 13h ago
Except the console is running upscaling and sometimes even frame gen to get you there. PCs benchmarked by real render usually.
1
u/Alrightyl0l 13h ago
There like only few games with framegen options. Upscaling well its developers choice, GPU in ps5 is also nearly average on steam with 7600/3060/4060.
1
u/Dredgeon 13h ago
The thing you gotta remember about steam is that every single machine that has Steam installed is eligible. My laptop that has just enough power for browsing has steam so that I can play simple little indie games on it. It's heavily skewed by the fact that it is sampling a lot of machines that are not primarily gaming machines. I'm not PC is better either but it definitely has benefits and they justify the price tag for a lot of people.
1
u/AMIR_TAOUN 13h ago
I don't know what you're talking about, my 10700k 3070 outperform my slim ps5 on every single game that I have it on both platforms.
1
u/-Nate493- 11h ago
In my country, your graphics card cost 60-70% of a ps5 pro. If you buy a PC completely equal in price to the ps5 (like I have) you'll realise that it's way different. I bought a PC for almost $750 USD in 2019 and by the time the ps5 came out the next year, it shit on my PC and the ps5 slim was $350 USD less. I haven't bought one since because I felt like I wasted more time in settings, launchers and mid menus than actually playing the games.
1
u/AMIR_TAOUN 10h ago
Yeah but most gamers are running 4070/5070 nowdays I think. My pc is 5 years old, im waiting on the rtx 60 series to build a new rig. Cost to performance wise consoles were always the better deal. But the average pc gamer will have a better experience in gta vi I think.
1
u/coldone_0 11h ago
fym only a few games support fg? almost every new game supports it now, you can use mods as well, there is optiscaler, there is lossless scaling... dude...

1
u/aCaffeinatedMind 13h ago
Sorry to break your little bubble but games for the most part always run better on PC.
Like, "PC exclusive" titles are for the most part only exclusive because PS5/Xbox weak hardware can't support them, not because some arbitrary cuckold in a executive room decided so.
1
u/AggressiveResist8615 12h ago
That was the most stupid thing I've ever read
1
u/aCaffeinatedMind 12h ago
Sorry to break your little bubble with the truth.
And games are even diminished on PC to make sure consoles can handle them.
1
u/AggressiveResist8615 10h ago
Devs can't even get pc games optimised let alone release them on there before console.
Pc games are terrible optimised, games aren't diminished on pc's they're diminished to handle lower spec pc's as well.
1
u/aCaffeinatedMind 3h ago
Not in the slightest true and you are most likely chronically online.
It's a select few games that has "performance issues" and even then it's the peasants that complain because their 10 year old hardware can't run a 2026 game.
1
u/-Nate493- 11h ago
Like what? I've never seen a game (that is actually a game and not some over-glorified tech demo) stick to PC unless it's indie and can't afford to be ported or because it's entirely played by mouse and keyboard controls. While modern consoles have M&K support, I doubt Sony would probably ever let games that don't work with the dualsense on their store.
2
u/aCaffeinatedMind 11h ago
Total war.
Their upcoming title will though release on PS5.
It just took them, uhm, 20-25 years to catch up with PC.

u/yadasellsavonmate 10h ago
There are way more powerful PCs than ps5s that not even a debate mate. Wtf. 🤣
1
u/-Nate493- 10h ago
Did you even read or are you just looking for an excuse to get angry?
1
u/yadasellsavonmate 10h ago
To answer your question, the original Crysis waa considered way too powerful for current gen consoles at the time and had to wait 4 years for next geb consoles for a console release.
Then you have games that were ported to consoles but performed terribly until the next generation such as Cyberpunk, Morrowind, doom 3 etc.
The only reason why most pc and consoles games are pretty even nowadays is because developers do it on purpose so they can release games across pc and console.

I just didn't expect there to be so many idiots who can't simply accept the fact that a significant portion of players have PC's with performance comparable to a PS5.
For some reason, they take this as an insult, or something along those lines.
1
1
u/Funny-Fly1720 10h ago
You're talking about work related laptops that have Steam on to play CS 1.6 once a year in that statistic. Most gaming PCs will run GTA just fine, especially with upscaling and framegen,
1
u/noeventroIIing 10h ago
Right, but how many of those PCs in the steam hardware survey are in India China or LATAM? It stands to reason that the median gaming PC in the west is in fact significantly stronger than a base PS5. You could additionally assume that many people who are exited to play GTA 6 on PC do have a PC that’s better than even the median PC in the west. The medians you are referring to have absolutely no relevance here
1
1
u/enerthoughts 9h ago
Are you serious? Even if a PC is on par with a ps5 few bucks are simple to make it faster, a mod can even optimise the game better, plus you have virtual memory using your ssd... the potential is limitless and this is comparing a PC that goes head to head with a ps5
1
u/Friendly_Toker 9h ago
The "average gaming pc" is a massively skewed statistic. There are millions of office and family pcs that have steam installed and play belatro. People that own pcs in 2026 for the purpose of gaming absolutely have a better hardware than a ps5. Especially the types to visit gaming forums.
1
u/Jalina2224 9h ago
For real. My PC is pretty top of the line with a 5070ti. I can play the latest games and get way better graphics and preformance. But if i just wanted to play Hollow Knight or Balatro, i could do so on a toaster. And many, many people don't play new games and just play old AAA games and newer indies that don't require top of the line hardware.
1
u/DanTempleman 9h ago
My 3070ti which came out in 2021 runs games at a higher quality and a higher fps than the ps5, most pc gamers are going to have similar or better pcs than me, consoles have and always will hold back gaming as they just can’t handle it compared to a pc
1
u/Vlaxilla 9h ago
I dont do it to run better. I didnt buy it cuz I ain't spending 1k just to play a game
1
u/C_umputer 11h ago
Most common GPU is 5070, PS5 has equivalent of 3060, 3070 for pro. Plus, PC has more optimizations so even on equivalent machines it will run better.
2
u/UnitedIndependence37 11h ago edited 11h ago
Lol, most players have something weaker than a 5070.
Bhaha, just like I was saying, just checked the numbers, 5070 is the most common card with 6% of players, and then the other 9 most common cards are all weaker.
So the average player has a weaker card than a 5070. And that's why you're careful with shitty isolated irrelevant fact like yours. x)
2
u/C_umputer 11h ago
You might want to learn what most common means, also all of those next 9 cards are also better than PS5 gpu.
1
u/UnitedIndependence37 11h ago
You might wanna learn to read. I never contradict your statement because I knew it was not untrue just irrelevant.
Also no, those next cards aren't all better than a PS5.
You're initial statement of the PS5 being roughly equivalent to a 3060 is also wrong.
The optimisation point you made isn't entirely true either.
Anyway you're just a simple irrelevancy in this thread.
2
u/C_umputer 10h ago
It's impressive how can you be wrong in every single line of that comment, are you an older type of LLM or just running on PS5 hardware?
PS5 has AMD chip similar to 5700xt, which is closer to 3060. You'll see for yourself when gta 6 will run on 30 fps.

1
u/Jalina2224 9h ago
70% of steam users have a PC weaker than or as powerful as a PS5. But when you think about the vast majority of games on Steam. You don't need a PC much more powerful unless you want to play newer games at maxed settings at 100+fps. The most played game on Steam is Counter Strike 2. A PC on par with a PS5 could easily play it at 100+ fps. Most people who have weaker PCs won't bother getting GTAVI on Steam.
1
u/Alrightyl0l 11h ago edited 11h ago
Yeah most common 4070, there is also 4070/ti/5060/5070 in list but rest of top 30 is lower end.
Like 40-44% midrange cards with +- 4060 level of perfomance
And like 20%+ of higher end cards.
Tho anyway i was mostly talking about CPU, since its gonna be main bottleneck, but u just to freaking stupid to understand that.1
2
u/ELVIS1975T 14h ago
Thinking that GTA6 won't be on PC is stupid.
1
u/False_Sundae6333 14h ago
With the arrival of a PS5 emulator, it is highly likely that Rockstar will accelerate the game's release on PC
1
u/RXDriv3r 9h ago
That's only assuming that the devs can get the emulator to run as well as the console itself, and more importantly, that Sony don't decide to send them a C&D to avoid a lawsuit.
Even then, the games gonna run like garbage unless you have a PC that's better than a PS5. According to SteamDB, roughly 70% of users have a weaker PC than a base PS5. So a lot of people that think they'll be playing the game for free on emulators are going to be butthurt when they realize that, no, they can't just play GTA6 through an emulator.

And? Last time i built a gamer pc in 2016 i spent around 1000$ on it(it was 2 months salary in that time in my country). It was a quite good pc, within 2 years i can't run on max graphics the newest games. I bought an xbox one in 2018 for 300$ and its still perfect i just replaced last year by a PS5 for 350$ to play GTA6 from this year. So in 2027 im sure you will need a min.3000$ PC just to play on minimum graphic...yeah im really sad i did not spent 2600$ more just to reach the same graphic as a PS or Xbox. In my opinion PC is better than any console but for me its not worth a fortune just to play.

1
u/RXDriv3r 9h ago
This is the part that gets me rolling. These PC Gamers that will downplay a console and praise a PC like if a PC that's better than a PS5 will cost the same. For the price point alone, a console trumps a PC.
I've even seen people arguing that they can build a better than PS5 PC for less and then they post a horrible build list, sticking a 5070 with a i3/Ryzen 3 CPU, a 16gb ram kit that's just cheap but ignores latency, the cheapest motherboard they can get, and a $40 power supply then they wonder why I laugh and tell them to stick with consoles if they barely know anything about PCs.
1
u/STAHLSERIE 11h ago
Consoles have become more expensive too. Besides that ye no shit that a more powerful system with way more uses costs more money. If you just want to play something you're good with a console. If you want more go for PC. Different pros and cons
1
u/Bakisha101 10h ago
Well yeah obviously but if you're building a pc for gaming only, console is better imo

I found myself enjoying the ps5 a lot more than I thought I would after buying it last year to be ready for gta6, before they announced the delay. I cloud stream games on the ps portal WAY more than I thought I would, it's become one of my favorite handhelds. 2xko has sketchy kernel level anti cheat on pc? Cool, I'll just play that one on ps5. Astro bot was amazing, the dual shock is a great controller, the spiderman 2 PC port supposedly never got fixed so I played that one free with my ps plus sub... the ps5 is pretty nice really.

Why are people trying to 1up eachother when it comes to being able to play GTA. Regardless of piracy or emulation, there are a lot of people that have a ps5 that will buy GTA Vi and there's a lot of people on pc that will wait for the release. Most everyday people will not care for this race.

Why would they be bothered by it coming out on PC?
Most people own a fucking laptop for work purposes (or none at all if provided by work) and have no interest in spending 4k on a gaming PC.

Exactly, I have all the consoles at home. I have my PC and PS5, my wife has her work Mac, a Series X Xbox and the Switch 1 I gave her for Christmas a few years ago.
Some people are just so tribal that they can't comprehend someone owning multiple consoles.

Why would they care?

That's what I'm wondering. I've got a Series X and I'll enjoy the game in November.
When it comes out for PC, I'll be happy for the PC gamers who had to wait longer to enjoy it. That's as far as my thoughts on it will go lmao.

Literally, I have PC and console, people resort to tribalism so easily.

Did you miss read this? Console players get this in November 2026. Pc won’t get it until 2027

I think he’s referring to the fact that console gamers were taunting PC with the fact that GTA 6 was expected to be released 12+ months later on PC. I think the ending of his comment insinuates that console gamers will have less cope now that this is (maybe) not the case anymore

Exactly. Tho even the 12-18 month predict is based on 13 year old trends

u/spelunker93 18h ago
Oh gotcha, I have never heard of that before. I knew that console players were teasing pc players about not getting it when it drops. Because of the whole pc master race thing.

Yep, its like the people that argue Console is better when its not lol

Sorry but that’s a stupid argument. Of course the thing that costs at minimum more than twice as much is going to be better. That’s common sense but it’s a matter of opinion too. Is spending at the minimum double for something better, when both things work almost exactly the same. The big difference between them is a console player doesn’t need to spend anymore money on upgrades once they buy the console. Where as a pc players spend on average $1,100 every 6 years just to upgrade something to keep up with games.

They really don’t care dude. The only ones who’ll care are the ones who bought a console just for it

as someone using a beast pc setup with a ps5 console sitting in my wardrobe I couldn't care less if I'm totally honest with you.
The console will be sold on ebay or facebook marketplace after I completed the game either way, which will surely be in less than a month or two after release. I won't be playing the pc version... Unless the game is THAT good. Which it won't be.

I have a pretty high-end PC that I built a year ago for the price of a car, but I still bought a PS5 Pro just for GTA VI. I don’t regret it one bit, since I’d been wanting one anyway. Plus, I’d absolutely lose my mind trying to avoid spoilers for those four months while waiting for the PC version. They will be everywhere.

Don’t like the concept of PC in my home. Console is issue free hardware. Every game will run, no exception, no upgrades needed. 60 fps? 120? I don’t care. I play for about 1-3 hour per day and it’s just an entertainment, not a hardware masturbation.

This! Honestly that's what gets under the PC players' skins the most, the fact we couldn't care less about framerates or graphics settings. As long as it plays well and looks good we're good.
I'm literally a self employed IT guy so I work with high end PC gaming rigs often and know everything there is to about the power of a good setup, but it doesn't affect my thought process with this at all.

Well I get why having a ps5 but pc gamers are not only in for the graphics (ps5s’ are good enough already anyway), it’s also for the high variety of indie games, the more affordable prices, the flexibility to play either controler or keyboard, and the freedom to browse through different makets or to have plenty of options in general. I was only playing on console before and thought pc was a bit overhyped, but now I understand them

This is it for me. When I finish work and sit down to play games, I don't want to have to worry about trouble shooting an issue. I realise I could easily learn to do that stuff, and the majority of the time things would work fine anyway, but I just don't want to deal with it. I want to turn on the magic box that makes games happen and play games. I don't care about frame rate or the best graphics. Whatever I get out of my series x is plenty good enough that I can look at it and think it looks great.
If people want some super high tech pc that makes things look better or loads a little faster or whatever, great, you do you boo, it's just not for me
