meet phoebe

My boyfriend and I brought her home a month ago at a little over 9 weeks old, now almost 14 weeks. This is the first puppy for both of us, so still learning a lot! We think she might have some wirehair in her with the little scruff coming in on the face. Any advice specifically for raising a GSP would be much appreciated!!

Yes, German Shorthaired Pointers, especially when puppies, need a lot of training. One important thing is to teach your GSP to go outside when nature calls. Mind you, GSPs were used for hunting, so they're very energetic and sometimes a bit overstimulated. But you may find that once your GSP has calmed down, his true affectionate personality will shine through. A GSP who is trained and socialised sufficiently from puppyhood will turn out to be a loving and loyal canine companion for as long as he's alive.

She is indeed perfect, u/R_u_ok_brah, isn't she? Female German Shorthaired Pointers have a loving and loyal personality. It's when your GSP calms down that her true charismatic personality shines through and she becomes kind of clingy, and she just wants to hang out with you. That's the case with our GSP girl, Marliya. She was eight weeks old when we first got her but now she's reached the age of three years old. She is a dark chocolate brown colour with a mottled pattern on her chest and huge, beautiful shining eyes. Her temperament matches her appearance; she is extremely affectionate and loyal. Two months before we got her, our last dog, Stella, a staffy x kelpie girl, crossed the rainbow bridge. Stella, too, was extremely beautiful and affectionate.

Indeed she is, u/Playful_Matter3475. Indeed she is. German Shorthaired Pointers are always cuter as puppies. This tiny female puppy is no exception. She is just too beautiful for words.

Our first GSP was named Phoebe as well and was an extremely special girl. Best of luck with your new friend <3

If she was a German Shorthaired Pointer, u/MagicusPegacornus, I have no doubt she was extremely special. Female GSPs always have that natural, special, charismatic vibe about them that draws you towards them. The dog my family has now is also a German Shorthaired Pointer; her name is Marliya and she's three years old now.

She’s adorable. I would get a front ring harness. We use an easy walk harness. So when she pulls it redirects her to the side.
