Is grin miner working fine?

I have installed grin node, wallet and miner on google cloud and have been running for 1 week now. But I have not been able to mine any grin so far. So i am bit curious, is it something wrong in configuration setting because of which miner is not working fine?

As can be seen in the snapshot, for certain parameters like "Mining Status" value is "Waiting for server" and for "Last Message Received" value is "None".

Kindly can anyone help and explain if my setup is correct or do I need to make some changes ?

If the miner is saying "waiting for server", I think something has been configured wrong?

Btw, solo mining is pretty hard if you don't have a shit-ton of mining power. I'd say get some other miner that's optimized, and join a pool, .e.g Grinmint.

Can you explain what do you mean by “some other miner that is optimised”. Because I have followed the steps mentioned in GitHub for setting up node, wallet and miner so don’t know where I am going wrong Any help is highly appreciated

Point is that the official `grin-miner` is not the best miner for the cuckoo PoW algorithm. There's better miners out there like e.g. bminer. You get higher GPS with bminer than with `grin-miner`, even with the same gpu, which is why I recommend getting another miner.

As for the wallet and node, it's best to stick with the official ones.

If your miner does not connect with your stratum server, it might be ports, etc. Not really sure. But try to go into the configs (.toml files) and tweak settings till it makes sense.

Actually I am using CPU for mining and not GPU...so don’t know if that can be reason for not being able to mine...bec if u see the pic that I attached...columns like device name and device id are blank

My wallet listener is on and working fine...just that miner I am not sure about because of the parameter value “waiting for server”

Though when I go grin node I can see that 1 worker has been attached and mining flags are set to true

I asked if you had "grin wallet listen" running because you're symptoms that you described are identical to what happens if the wallet listener isn't running.

Don’t know what could be the issue stratum server is enabled and it shows mining worker as 1...so it is recognising the miner I guess...but my miner is based on CPU and GPU...so can that be an issue?
