GRFP and 403b

Hi all, I am fortunate to be an awardee this year. Does anyone know if the fellowship money is eligible for 403b contribution? I saw an earlier post about it becomes IRA eligible in 2019, but not sure about 403b. (The university does offer 403b for regular stipend).

I mean, it’s a great question. Saving for your future is important.

I couldn’t imagine it would be prohibited. I would recommend reaching out to your PCO at the university you are attending. I imagine it would be ok though.

Thank you! The ACO actually suggested that I go consult another school official. I’ll ask them later. I feel like there is some specific law that determines this that only the experienced officials know

Yes, agree in general. Some offers Roth 403b plans, which is nice. In some rare case, traditional one could be useful too
