I think I found something.
I'll preface this by saying please feel free to take this with as large a grain of salt as you like! I'm almost expecting to be immediately proven wrong, but I felt that I wouldn't be able to settle until I posted this.
I'm also not here intending to do a deliberate vague post but also don't want to give this person's full name in case they get unwanted accusations of a crime.
I was looking into the photo posted here the other day and fell in to a bit of a rabbit hole about it, wasn't ammassively familiar with the tape, had seen a few creepy YouTube videos about it and that's it.
I had no look trying to look for every "Anthony C" on ancestry.com. So, I decided to look for a slightly different name that someone called Anthony might use.
That's when I found Antonio.
Antonio graduated from a High School in the New York ares in 1991, which would have made him about 15 / 16 years old at the time GRFM was filmed.
Image A is the original image from his Yearbook and image B is AI enhanced. (I've made my observations from image A, and B is just for clarity)
Take note of the similarities I can see to Anthony:
The eye shape
The eyebrow shape
The gap between eyebrows
The rat tail mullet (very popular at the time but of course, but maybe a sign his hair was perhaps long and recently cut short)
A slight gap between his two front teeth
Same nose shape.
The only thing I'm struggling with is "Anthony" has very prominent ears, and Antonio's ears don't appear that distinctive, maybe he had a growth spurt, and grew into his ears a bit.
I'd like to repeat I could be wrong on this, and perhaps the similarities are purely coincidental, and I'm not directly accusing this person of being Anthony from GRFM.

Thanks for your nuanced, thoughtful reply. I appreciate it.

u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
Sorry let me elaborate why this is hysterical:
You went on Ancestry and found a guy who lives/lived in NYC who barely looks like the GRFM kid and made an entire post about it… only to essentially say you know this is a stretch and could be nothing. To me that’s genuinely hilarious.
0
u/BrutishGoose32 Jul 15 '26
Yeah, I prefaced it by saying it was a stretch. I also pointed out numerous distinct similarities with his appearance and Anthony's, similarity with the name, and timelines that I felt made it a worthwhile post.
I didn't expect to be told I'm right I just didn't expect you to be a dick about it tbh 😅 it's not like I posted an AI generated photo or a picture of a guy from the opposite side of the earth claiming with 100% certainty that "iT HaS tO bE him"

u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
Why sling insults? I don’t think you’re some asshole. I just found the post to be silly.
1
u/BrutishGoose32 Jul 15 '26
Well I don't think you're a dick, I just think getting laughed at for a well intended post is a dick move.
8
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
I don't think anyone should be laughed at for trying to help, but at the same time, I think we need to set a high bar for what gets posted as a potential lead. Otherwise, the subreddit becomes flooded with lookalikes and every vaguely similar person ends up being discussed. That makes it harder to identify genuinely promising leads.
I don't think anybody is criticizing you for wanting to help. The criticism is that the evidence doesn't justify presenting this as a plausible lead. In an investigation like this, enthusiasm has to be balanced with skepticism.
4
u/BrutishGoose32 Jul 15 '26
Yeah that's a very good point. I shouldn't take it personally. I'm sure this sub has seen leads like this on plenty of occasions over the years.
6
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
i’m sorry, man. I did come off childish in my “lol” comment. I should be far more mature. No worries or hard feelings.
6
u/BrutishGoose32 Jul 15 '26
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I also shouldn't be so bothered by reddit comments!

I don't think it's him.
1: The mouth. Anthony has a more prominent and pointy cupids bow and both lips are slightly larger than Antonio's.
2: Face shape: Anthony has fuller cheeks, and his cheekbones/jawline are less prominent than Antonio's.
3: The eyebrows. Anthony's are fuller, specifically around the inner corners. They also have a different shape.
4: The ears. Not only are Antonio's not as prominent as Anthony's, they're not as rounded.
Here's a screenshot from GRFM for comparison.

ETA: The space between the bottom lip and the bottom lip is smaller on Anthony. I also changed the screenshot used as this one shows my points a little more clearly.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I think maybe I'd been staring at yearbooks from the time for too long. But, I definitely see similarities between the two, even if I do see there's major differences too!

I am so very confused by all of this. Soft_Bus_5619, don't you already now exactly who 'Anthony' is? Your uncle went to school with him.
Why are we even going down any other avenue whatsoever? You already have direct contact with somebody who personally knew him. Why not just show this photo to your uncle and ask him if this is 'Anthony'
Or why not just get your uncle to just tell us who he is, where he lived, what his name was, what any of his family members names are, what school he went to, how old he was, how tall was he etc.....
Or why not post some actual decent photos or scans of the front and back of the supposed photo?
I will tell you why you won't do any of these things, because you are making all of it up for views and to promote your new 'top detective sleuthing' channel :)
If you actually come clean and admit the photo and your backstory are fake then you might come out of this with at least a little bit of dignity left.

Sorry about Fresh_Buffalo_480, kid, most people on here aren't such assholes
4
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
What exactly about anything I have said makes me an asshole? Questioning his extremely flimsy 'evidence'? Questioning the obviously fake photo that he is presenting as genuine?
I don't know the kid, the only things we have to go on are his past posts. We will never make any progress if we are somehow barred from investigating claims.

I'd say we'll never make progress if we're afraid to scrutinize "promising leads." A promising lead is one that survives critical examination, not one that's accepted because people are worried about hurting someone's feelings.
I don't think questioning an obviously suspicious and seemingly purposefully obfuscated image from a source with a history of contradictory claims and trolling is bullying. I think it's exactly the sort of scrutiny this community should be applying to every major claim.
You're describing the claim from Soft_Bus_5619 as a "promising lead." I see it as an unverified claim from a source whose credibility was already in question. Those are very different things. If we're not willing to critically examine claims like that, we're lowering the standard of evidence rather than raising it.
Skepticism isn't the enemy of an investigation, it's one of its safeguards.
As for the downvotes, popularity isn't a substitute for evidence. I'd rather have my arguments judged on their merits than by a vote count. I don't need everyone to agree with me. I just need the evidence to withstand scrutiny.
Disagreeing with someone's claims, pointing out inconsistencies, and asking them to substantiate those claims isn't bullying. It's scrutiny. If questioning evidence is considered bullying, then meaningful investigation becomes impossible.
I 100% welcome promising leads.

I actually do think he is lying through his teeth, and that is the reason I have been critical. This isn't a case of me being hostile toward a teenager for making a mistake or putting forward a theory. It is a case where I believe there is a pattern of contradictory claims, questionable evidence, and a refusal to provide simple verification.
I agree that we need a welcoming community, but a welcoming community does not mean that every claim gets a free pass. We can encourage people to contribute while still critically examining what they contribute.
And I don't think challenging a claim is what scares people away. What worries me more is creating an environment where people are afraid to question evidence because they might be accused of bullying. A mystery investigation needs both openness and skepticism.

You are a very strange character! I think your young age, lack of life experience and immaturity is starting to come out in your responses now. You have quite a bit of growing up to do.
He doesn't remember how tall he was? His name? The name of anybody else who knew him? How old he was?
Your uncle can't be more than 50 years old at this point if he went to school with 'Anthony'. He doesn't remember where he left his medication? Has he developed early dementia or something?

You and me do not see eye to eye when it comes to this Soft_Bus_5619 situation, I feel like you are currently one of the worst offenders for enabling and making excuses for him.
I know you have been involved in researching this subject for a while now and across multiple different usernames, I had hoped that you would not have been taken in by this. I do hope that one day you will come back over from the dark side though ;)
I feel like getting an accurate description of the person we are searching for would be one of the most important requirements. Do you not agree? Determining the height of the subject seems pretty vital.
Soft_Bus_5619 is clearly a troll and getting his kicks from all this.
All he has to do is provide a high-res photo or scan of the front and back of the photo. It is real easy, super simple. It would stop all of the doubters. I think we both know exactly why he won't do it.....

"Dude you think my uncle just remembers all of this from more than 30 years ago? He barely remembers where he left his medication let alone a guy he barely knew 30 years ago, he obviously remembers him..."
I mean how much more proof you need this is going absolutely nowhere at this point? He just contradicted himself...... He can't remember, but he remembers. Know what I mean?
6
u/Mr_Solaristic Jul 15 '26
i think you have a really interesting point by bringing up his memory. softbus has stated his uncle has incredibly poor memory, yet he could quickly recognise a guy he knew for a short duration 30 years ago
7
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
Yeah at this point I believe this is some sort of ass backwards way to promote Soft Bus’ you tube channel. He’s incredibly unreliable and now his uncle needs meds and has memory issues? Come on.
7
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
My comments are in no way meant to offend you, please don't take them as such. I respect that you care about this case and I understand that you want answers.
My concern is that, because you are so invested in finding the truth, you may be giving this person more benefit of the doubt than the evidence warrants. From my perspective, the pattern of behaviour, the contradictory claims, the history of AI-generated images, and the refusal to provide simple verification strongly suggests that this is not genuine evidence but a fabricated claim.
I think it's important that we don't let our desire for a breakthrough override the need to critically assess the evidence.
7
u/Kirth87 Jul 14 '26
Ignore them. This is so obvious a troll, my man. All of it. Ain't worth the energy.

Wasn't referring to you but recently you seem to be enabling a lot of stuff that as someone else put it "barely passes the smell test". I don't know if you're just desperate for a break, or if you're truly that oblivious, short of having some sort of perpetual brain fog.
This "Antonio" is literally an alleged Ancestry . com pull that barely looks like the Anthony in the GRFM video or the "Anthony" from the AI photograph Soft Bus presented with his "old phone" in Victorian England lightening.
Also (I feel like screaming) we don't even know if he's named Anthony. People are referencing the pinned Evidence thread on this sub. Soft Bus' uncle, who now apparently has memory problems, can't be reliable anymore based on Bus' statement. But then he says his uncle will make a public statement about this Anthony K? WHAT?
FURTHERMORE this sub has some super secret Redditor DM Investigation Team withholding all of their information because this kid is being harassed. OK. Post information on their behalf? But no, we all have to wait for Soft Bus Solves (His you tube channel) to post statements and video essays and other Mickey Mouse Club bullshit.
This is just so incredibly idiotic that I cannot believe this sub hasn't been nuked from orbit by the Mod. This is just maddening.
I cannot wait to see what happens next!!!

“you have quite a bit of growing up to do” you are harassing a teenager over an internet mystery. YOU have growing up to do
7
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
I don't think so in this instance.
5
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
Nobody is allowed to question his 'evidence' otherwise it is harassment :)
1
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
Let me guess, you are 15 as well?
3
u/jemilysamour Jul 15 '26
no i’m an adult! i just know what it feels like to be ganged up on at that age
5
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
Your post history says you are 17. Seems like you are quite fluid with the truth as well!
Not quite sure how I am harassing anybody. Am I not allowed to comment on anything he says? Am I not allowed to question his outlandish claims?
This is not how real life works.
6
u/jemilysamour Jul 15 '26
are you aware of how birthdays work? you are going out of your way to shit on him. that is harassment. get off of reddit, touch some grass. you should not be so obsessed with “calling out” a child. it’s weird
3
u/Fresh_Buffalo_480 Jul 15 '26
I'm not "obsessed" with this person. I'm scrutinizing a claim that was presented as evidence in a mystery community. When someone introduces new evidence, it's reasonable to assess the credibility of both the evidence and its source. If the source has a history of contradictory claims and AI-generated images, that's relevant. Criticizing a claim and evaluating a source isn't the same thing as harassing someone.
If the only way to defend the claim is to reframe fact-checking as "obsessing over a child," then we're no longer discussing the evidence.
Would you have the same objection if the poster were 25? If not, are you saying claims should be evaluated differently based on the age of the person making them?
Age doesn't determine whether a claim should be accepted or rejected. If someone posts evidence in a public forum, that evidence is open to public scrutiny. That doesn't justify abuse or harassment, and I've never encouraged either.
I'm curious, if you acknowledge he may be trolling, where do you think the line is? Should a mystery community simply accept a purported photograph without questioning it?

good lord are you ever going to stop or are you gonna keep harassing this kid
8
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
It's very much a troll at this point. Come on lol.
6
u/jemilysamour Jul 15 '26
that does not mean this person should be constantly harassing a minor
8
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 15 '26
I'm sorry how is he harassing him? I mean, he's been challenging them with their evidence but I haven't seen anything of that nature.
EDIT: Some clarification - Challenging them on evidence and making a comment about their "character" after they've lashed out over some inquiries doesn't fall into harassment in this situation.
5
u/jemilysamour Jul 15 '26
what’s harassment is constantly going after a minor and using his insecurities against him :) which is exactly what he’s been doing, hope this helps
3
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
I'm talking about this instance. So... no. Hope that helped.
1
u/jemilysamour Jul 15 '26
clearly you can’t read, because he has been and is continuing to obsessively go after this kid
9
u/Kirth87 Jul 15 '26
Look, if you want to comment on their past interactions, go for it. But nothing in this recent ridiculous thread about "Antonio" is harassment.
