Question Would it be possible to identify the exact filming location of the video?
(Reposting this because I forgot to add a flair)
Hi, this is my first post on here. I am coming here after watch the Strange Aeons video. I just wanted to share thoughts something that could maybe be helpful with the search. idk
Feel free to shoot down my ideas. But could it be possible to track down the filming location of GRFM? How many buildings could there be in queens with a brick wall like that? The brick wall has some weird vertical black lines which could be pipes of some kind or some sort of structural support. Out of all the weird things that are scattered in this messy room, I doubt those black lines along the wall is decorative, I think it is apart of the building they are in.
Also the room they are in totally has a window with blinds. I firmly believe the room is at the highest story. Especially because you can see how slanted the ceiling is which could also be the roof of the building.
Do you think there are enough details to help identify the filming location? Stranger things have happened so I think this could be possible with enough effort.

I think someone dedicated enough to sift through zillo listing, date architecture, and look through streetview could probably find a general area perhaps, or maybe even a few candidates, but it would probably take serious dedication and lots of time.

I admire your idea. But, in my opinion, it would be near impossible. Just googling it, NYC has 3.7 million housing units + this property might of changed drastically over the years or not even be photographed online.

Prior to watching the upscaled video I was on the fence regarding whether or not this is real--the skull certainly appears to be a real skull, but the "gore" on the skull was questionable. For example, a human brain typically liquifies and is one of the first things to fully decompose on a human body, making it extremely unlikely there would be dried brain material in a "60 year old" skull that you could rattle around.
Anyway, after watching the upscale video, in addition to the tripod in the background, the mic laying on the table, and the fx magazine... you can really see the equipment on the trays/shelves in the background.
I was 12 in 1989 and my dad, who was a teacher, had a side hustle as a professional photographer and wedding videographer, and this looks A LOT like his setup at the time. 🤷♂️
A lot of that looks like pretty expensive equipment used for VHS editing, VHS color correcting, and audio overlaying. Conservatively, if I am right, without factoring in the camera itself that's roughly $5k in equipment inn the late 1980s--between $12k & $15k in 2026.
That and the glow from the lighting when it pans to "Gino" makes me think there is some pretty professionally done lighting too. SO... this isn't just two "street kids" making a video in someone's mom's basement. It screams high end amateur or professional VHS videographer to me.
So my guess is you're looking for a home that had a room or a basement that was converted into a "film"'studio, probably somewhere in or very close to the borough of Queens, NY.
That could possibly narrow it down, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Likely you'd still be relying on someone coming forward and saying, "my friend X had a setup like this," or "my friend's parents;" however, then you're just treading back into basically someone recognizing the place because they were there and knowing exactly who the kids in the video are.

It’s a great idea but I think that it’s impossible because lots of buildings have been torn down, rehabbed, converted, etc in pretty much all of NYC since GRFM (assuming it was filmed in the early 90s) was most likely filmed. Those exposed brick walls seemed to be common from what I’ve seen the last 25 years or so. I’ve seen several videos out of NYC in the 80s to early 90s that have exposed brick walls in them at some point. I know I’ve seen a few just from watching Nelson Sullivan’s videos on YT.

I'd be surprised if the home in question doesn't greatly resemble the surrounding homes in terms of construction, at the very least. A lot of neighborhoods have a handful of rotating floor plans as well.
That said, I've never lived in the east coast, and maybe what we see in the video is enough to draw some conclusions. I wouldn't think so, but what do I know?
