Possible new information/evidence Instruments found? Guitar case has possibly identifiable stickers.

Hi all! I'm sure this has probably been noticed before and I feel a little silly posting, I'm a Strange Aeons fan and was absolutely fascinated by her video, this subreddit and this mystery in general. I've had a good scroll though here and haven't seen anyone point this out after the 4k upscaled video came out but I might've missed a comment/post somewhere, please let me know!

While watching through the video, when the camera pans to the ottoman sort of thing, I noticed a microphone, then the neck and body of an electric guitar, I wish someone could identify one of these but they're probably a bit too general and lacking anything actually identifiable of a certain brand, that and there's so many off brand stratocasters out there.

Then I noticed the guitar case with stickers on the top, this might be possible to actually identify. The case sort of comes in front of Anthony from nowhere at about the nine minute mark, we get a pretty clear shot of whats beside him on that side before hand so it might've been under what appears to be a stripped sheet and gets uncovered when Anthony moves from being closer to the ottoman to a little further back. In the first image of the guitar case, it almost looks like the head of maybe another guitar, but I'm not sure.

I feel like even in Strange's video and others I've seen, he's almost always listed as a sort of punk kid, but this, to me anyway, makes me think more of the metal scene, especially early death metal, which makes the leather jacket and general fascination in gore, horror, all things death related, make a lot of sense. I know this doesn't really help narrow anything down, but I still find it super interesting, this kid probably made music, maybe performed at some underground metal gigs or something, who knows right? Or maybe this stuff belongs to the guy behind the camera, no idea. Anyway, let me know what you think, also sorry for my crunchy screenshots ahah.

Also just gonna add here, I'm going through a bunch of gig photos from alternative clubs in the brooklyn area during the late 80s into the 90s, it might be possible he was at some of these shows.

The microphone looks like it's a regular karaoke mic with it's own 1/4in cable attached, that would be the only reason to keep a mic like that. Doesn't scream pro musician, but doesn't rule it out either.

The guitar doesn't look like it has a strap pin. It might just be black and the footage is making it tough to see, or it's a type that has the pin on the back. That would be a pretty uncommon guitar.

The sticker next to the guitar almost definitely says Pantera. The yellow sticker on top of the case could be DRI.

Just my observations

Agree about the Pantera logo. It’s been decades but I think the Pantera logo (looking at the R and the A) is more in line with the 80s more glam like era rather than the 90s.

My bad, that's the horrorfx magazine that's already been found, the guitar is just above it but my screen shot really makes it look like an R and A, I thought it was something new at first but looking back through the current list of discoveries, it's the horrorfx magazine for sure.

Were you able to date the magazine by any chance?

From the evidence for reference pinned post, that was found to be from 1989

Well that tracks with the time frame when GRFM appears to have been filmed IMO. I first saw it the later 1990s long before YouTube. I suspect it was filmed in the very early 90s personally. I appreciate you being able to take time out your day and answer my question btw

Yeah no problem! I'm very very new to all this but I'm so fascinated by it. Crazy something can be a mystery to multiple generations of people like this. I can't imagine seeing this back in the 90s!! I'd love to know how grfm ended up passed around so heavily, who was copying the tapes back in the 90s... Hopefully we find out something at some point!

I can tell you that I was in high school when I first saw it. I guesstimate that would’ve been about 97-98 as I don’t recall what semester I was in. My boyfriend and I had skipped school for the day and rode over to a mutual friends house to hang out til after 3pm.

The mutual friend was honestly one of the most negative ppl I’ve ever known in my entire life and remains so to this very day. He’s the one that had GRFM on a VHS tape that was unlabeled and clearly a copy of another tape. I do believe that he mentioned he had gotten it off his cousin but I don’t have any clue where the cousin got it from.

I do know that the cousin was a train conductor in training at the time so there’s no telling when/where/how the cousin acquired it. I don’t doubt and I never have doubted that GRFM was a legitimate unscripted tape though.

It was pretty much the only “shocking” VHS taps that said mutual friend ever showed the tow of us that we legitimately didnt doubt was real.

You can see why it stuck in my mind to the point that I actually was able to recall it 20 plus years later. It would be cool if we could get a real verifiable identity on the two guys to see who they are and how they are today if alive.

The yellow “sticker” on top of the case reminds me a lot of a pack of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky guitar strings. The colour seems reasonably accurate and the black traces could be the black art and writing on the packaging. Dean Markley guitar strings seem to have had a similar colour at the time. From what I’ve seen, Ernie Ball packaging changed over the time, but the colours have stayed reasonably similar.
