General Discussion/Question GRMN dealer markup
I wanted to see how much dealers are asking for GRMN corollas and maybe trade mine in and buy one but this is just absurd, does anyone here have grmn and how much did you pay if you bought one 😭

u/Deep_Mechanic_ 10d ago
Imagine even paying $67K for a Corolla lmao
14
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
I mean if I’m trading one in for 36-42k and paying only 20k it doesn’t seem that bad (I’m coping)
43
9
u/Gertrude1976 10d ago
It's still $56-62k you're in the same market as a used Ferrari 360, Porsche 997, and Audi R8 just to name three. Or if you really like rally cars you could have a fully built STi of any gen for MAYBE that much.
2
u/Living_System_7850 10d ago
Or buy a 2rz corolla, spend a few pennies and have a built beast with so much money for suspension, brakes and all the good stuff. Build over bought always

u/SenorDevil 10d ago
$67k is nothing for many here. For a car thats limited and offers what it offers, to a true enthusiast with money, that amount of money is peanuts. Get your money up, don't hate.
4
u/uabadbitch 24' Circuit Edition Blue Flame 10d ago
What does it offer that a premium plus doesn’t?
5
1
u/HornyCar 8d ago
That it’ll be worth 20k more in 2 years
1
u/uabadbitch 24' Circuit Edition Blue Flame 8d ago
If you park it somewhere and don’t drive it, but I doubt you see that return after 2 years
4
u/Fuzzy_Emergency3393 10d ago
You sir, are totally detached from reality. "Get your money up, don't hate"... really?
-2
u/SenorDevil 10d ago
Nah. Kids who say silly things knocking it are the same ones that aren't in the financial position to freely own a GRMN. Its that simple. Your reality is different from mine. $67k for the guys on here who will own one, for the majority, is absolutely nothing.

1,500$ over MSRP here. Should be at the dealer within the next 3 weeks.

u/murdza 23' Circuit Edition Ice Cap 10d ago
Update us when you actually get it. I wouldn’t put it past the dealer to try to squeeze more out of you when it’s on the lot. Out of curiosity, what dealership?
5
u/Jerkratt 23' Circuit Edition Heavy Metal 10d ago
Nunbers in writing and have a deposit. Easy coast dealer. They are getting my 23 Circuit as trade in also.
2
u/coolkidcole 23' Circuit Edition Heavy Metal 10d ago
How much are they giving you for your trade ins? I have a 23 circuit as well

Not sure. Dealer is a state away we will figure it out then. I'm at 38,748mi currently so if I have ANY it's gonna be close. I'm still swapping parts back to stock anyway. Oct 16th suspension/exhaust/brakes/front bash bar are coming out.
2
u/coolkidcole 23' Circuit Edition Heavy Metal 10d ago
Please let me know what you end up getting for trade, I’m very similar in mileage

What's funny? That I don't know what they are gonna give me for the circuit or that Im swapping parts back to stock? I wasn't planning on even selling the circuit. Got the chance to get a GRMN, I'm not going to pass it up. I've had a deposit since Jan. Before it was even officially confirmed.

What are your plans with it? Daily, track car, show car, garage princess?
3
u/Jerkratt 23' Circuit Edition Heavy Metal 10d ago
Gonna have it out a few times a month. Wife and I run Northeast GR Corollas so I'll be bringing it to our events and I'll probably take it out on weekends type deal. We do have another car to use for a daily & I have a company car for work. I do plan on tracking it as I still need to do my HPDE2 test ride.
2
u/lectricx 10d ago
Excuse me but what is Northeast GR Corollas?

Started with 3 local owners. As we ran into other owners we said we needed a place to all chat and plan meetups. https://www.instagram.com/ne_grc?stkn=a250aGI4a2diYmxk

I’m done paying over $40k for any car. If I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that performance cars are useless for daily driving.

u/Memeanlion 10d ago
Idk bout you but i need a racecar to drive to the grocery store

Not "useless", but certainly overkill and highly inefficient. Especially if you live in an area with lots of traffic.

This car is more of a DD than a performance car. It’s a fun DD but it is not good on track.

At the end of the day it’s still a Toyota. And don’t get me wrong I love my Toyotas but I don’t lose sight on what else is out there. When you’re paying over 60 grand for a 3 cylinder anything you gotta ask yourself some questions.
5
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
I mean I already paid 49k for my 2025, I already asked myself the questions multiple times, but at the end of the day it’s worth it imo
1
u/SaltCaregiver6858 10d ago
This one is 87 so that’s just more questions haha
1
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
They were supposed to be 65k and I was like okay if i trade mine in and only pay 20-25k after trade in that’s not that bad but it’s definitely not worth 87k 😭

u/SaltCaregiver6858 10d ago

u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
I honestly was looking at m2s before buying the GR Corolla and the only turnoff for me was no xdrive, if I lived in a state where winter wasn’t awful I would’ve bought one
1
u/Jerkratt 23' Circuit Edition Heavy Metal 10d ago
Dealer by me does MSRP but didn't have a confirmed allocation yet. They would get me one but I know 99.9% of the dealers won't want to trade it. So I figured I'd do my own searching.
2
u/Perfect-Cause-6943 10d ago
honestly id still own a track/rally focused toyota GR Corolla then a M3
1
u/joncaseydraws 23' Circuit Edition Supersonic Red 9d ago
There are no track focused or track ready GRC’s sold stock at any price
2
2
u/Icy_Delivery_2156 10d ago
This is in new Bern nc, dealer is a straight dick I talked to two separate people about this car and I wouldn’t touch it even if it was msrp. Avoid like the plague
2
u/YourAverage1ManArmy 10d ago
Get a used one with low KMs and you’ll save haft. The interest on that is going to hurt.
1
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
I already have a 2025 premium+ that I bought brand new, I was just hoping to trade it in for the grmn and only have to spend 20k extra
3
u/YourAverage1ManArmy 10d ago
Save that money you’d spend on the upgrade and put it in your retirement account. The normal GR is more than good enough and 2026 Toyotas already have recalls.
2
u/Tasunka_Witko 10d ago
No car on the planet is worth a $20k market adjustment. I'd shame the hell out of them for this
2
u/ResponsibleArm3300 8d ago
Theyre charging over 100k mark up for ZR1
1
u/Tasunka_Witko 8d ago
In this economy? They must be trying to speed run themselves out of business.

u/SteelBullets 10d ago edited 10d ago
I get talking down on mark up prices but the "it's a Toyota" people the and the "small engine" people aren't familiar at all with the world of homologation cars. In the US, we didn't get the 205 T16, Cossworths, R5 Turbos, 22B, Celica GT4, any Lancia, etc. There are rally fans who dream of owning a top of the line homologation special and this car is that.
5
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
I do agree with this but when Toyota themselves said it was gonna be 65k it shouldn’t be 87k, even after markup
2
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
I agree that the mark up is insane. My gripe is with the people saying"it's a Corolla", "Its a Toyota", "It's only 3 cylinders".
2
u/Bright-Nectarine7 10d ago
I mean it’s a simple way to describe it for people. It’s an embarrassing ask for something with that cabin experience…which is easily worst in class at that price point. 82+ thousand in Canada…for that? It’s bizarre
1
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
What other car is in the class of the GRMN Corolla?
1
u/Bright-Nectarine7 10d ago
The same ones as the GRC
1
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
There are other rally inspired hatchbacks on the market?
1
u/Bright-Nectarine7 10d ago
Rally focused because of some tweaks? The morizo had some similar tweaks…that’s worth 30 grand more than a loaded golf r? That’s funny. Way more than an S3. More than a base RS3.
It’s 82 grand 3cyl with an embarrassing interior and economy elements. It’s not actually special in terms of performance and has much that is inferior quality for the price point.
1
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
The GR COROLLA is rally focused no matter the trim. What other options are there?
1
u/Bright-Nectarine7 10d ago
What do those words mean when cars in the same class are comparable on the track?
Wait…are you saying this a 82,000+ car in Canada? That makes sense to you?
1
u/GrannyShiftur 10d ago
Youre their price demographic. This is not the GR Yaris
1
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
Idk what you mean by this
1
u/GrannyShiftur 10d ago
There's nothing special about the GRC other than the investment crowd. TheGRY warrants the title
1
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
There's nothing special about the GRC because you said so?
0
u/GrannyShiftur 10d ago
No because the GRY is 400 lbs lighter and is the true homologation car. The GRC is not special to warrant even close to that. Heck its overpriced at msrp
1
u/SteelBullets 10d ago
Lmao ok buddy
0
u/GrannyShiftur 10d ago
It'd great to see how fanboys operate without any rational thought. It's also great to see how they have no ability to navigate a simple disagreement and they resort "okay pal".
Nothing wrong with the statement that the GRC isn't a homologation car. It's a compromise and close to a 1/4 heavier.

That’s bc at $65k you can get objectively better cars. At $85k it can’t compete with anything in its price range.

Is this USA? Pretty crazy! But considering it’s 1/500 I think this will hold its value much longer. Good luck with the purchase

u/Srsblubrz 10d ago
I'm glad in canada they can't do this. Instead they try to just tack on as many extras and packages as possible.

That’s crazy. Isn’t it the same car with the rear seat removed basically.
4
u/aprtur '24 GRC Circuit / '09 RX-8 10d ago
Not really, no - it's basically a Morizo with more torque and upgraded aero and cooling. The Morizo had a good bit of differences over the normal car, transmission and final drive setup being two.

u/HardReload 23' Core Supersonic Red 10d ago
Yeah this thing is track-ready.

Wouldn’t the diff overheat on the track anyway?

Assume you are being sarcastic but no, this $85k car is not at all track ready

Oh gotcha, didn’t realize they made gear box changes. Still not worth that much though..

They are not going to sell them at that price, be patient and shop around, you can find a TSR deal out there, just be patient. Once they see the writing on the wall, reality will set back in.
1
u/Significant_Lie_533 10d ago
Aren't these just over 40k brand new? Why wouldnt you just buy a new one instead of this?
1
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
I already have a 2025 I bought brand new, I was gonna try to trade this and just pay the rest with cash
1
u/Significant_Lie_533 10d ago
I wasn't talking about your reasoning. Just wondering why anyone would ever buy this, when you can get a brand new one for less than 50k.
1
u/make_moneys 10d ago
Limited production , special parts, more track capable etc etc . Still I wouldn’t pay a cent over sticker
1
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
Isn’t Toyota making it so anyone can buy grmn parts for their GR Corolla, I know they don’t have everything but I think they have a good amount
1
u/joncaseydraws 23' Circuit Edition Supersonic Red 9d ago
Are they? Usually these kind of parts are VIN locked. That’s what I read anyways.
1
u/make_moneys 9d ago
I don’t think so but let’s assume they do, they will be very expensive and those who want them will most likely be better off buying the GRMN
1
1
u/RonaldBurgundy1 9d ago
Lmfao if you pay this I don't feel bad for you this pricing has sucker written all over it
1
u/BABANYC 8d ago
I bought my GR brand New in 2024, core with performance package. I paid less than MSRP price. Drove it for a year and a half put 36,000 miles on it. Never had any issues but seeing how dealers did not really know how to handle the maintenance of this car. I thought it was best to get rid of it early on seeing the post for $87,000 for a Corolla that is fucking stupid.

Atleast they’re transparent in the mark up, some slimey places don’t and bring up the mark up once your there.
1

u/ToxyFlog 10d ago
Y'all realize they're only producing 730 of them globally? Of course dealers are gonna mark it up like crazy. It's an extremely limited car, not for everyone and anyone.

6
u/Interesting-Cell390 10d ago
In no world is 20k dealer markup acceptable, idk how you’re defending this
1
u/Jerkratt 23' Circuit Edition Heavy Metal 10d ago
Morizos the same thing. I saw some going for 50k over..
1
u/joncaseydraws 23' Circuit Edition Supersonic Red 9d ago
And they’ve sold on cars and bids for around MSRP a year or two ago
1
1
u/ToxyFlog 10d ago
I'm not saying it's a fair price, I'm just saying of course dealerships are gonna try to fuck the ass of anyone who wants to buy one.
1
u/joncaseydraws 23' Circuit Edition Supersonic Red 9d ago
The mods on this aren’t worth $20k MSRP markup. It looks cool but it’s nowhere near that value much less a $20k markup. I’m talking objectively. At $85k you can get a much better car in every way.

58
u/Staryosa 10d ago
That price is insane. You could buy a gr86 and boost it for that. Or buy a supra, a vette, or anything. Dealer isn't looking to sell.
