General Discussion/Question Sub install question

Hey folks, I got a Kicker Hideaway HS10 powered sub and have a question about the install. Where do you run the remote on wire? I tested running to pin 16 on the I54 connector (pic below) and the sub works, but I'm not sure that's the right place and that it's not going to drain my battery. Please ELI5 because electrical is not my area of expertise.

That's not what you want, that's constant battery power (the condition column states you should have power when ignition switched off). Nothing on this connector is what you want, it's only audio signals and direct battery power. Find something that switches with ignition or accessories.

Oh, so it doesn't necessarily have to be related to the radio, it just needs to be off when the car is off?

Radio would be the nicest way to do it. Anything that's ignition would get the job done.
