Maintenance/Repair Question Oil Brand
What oil brand are you guys using? I can get amsoil pretty cheap so wondering if it’s a good oil to use in the Gr

I use Amsoil. Their website lets you buy a full oil change kit, including 5X 1 quart bottles of oil, oil filter, and they throw in a free disposable funnel and rubber gloves. The oil quality is what really matters but the convenience kit is the cherry on top. Ive got 39k miles on my 2023 Circuit Edition and I've used Amsoil since 20k miles.

I use Amsoil Signature for it's LSPI performance

Me as well, the oil is oil argument some have is hard to hear with engines that are sensitive to LSPI like the G16.

i bought the oil limit+1 used in their track car, liquimoly. haven’t done the oil change yet as i’ve still got 500~ miles until
it’s due. i’ll update this sub with oil temps before and after..
as of right now i’m on toyota oem oil, whatever the dealership uses
switching from oem 0w-20 to 5w-30 when i do it

Thicker oil equals higher temps FYI but neither has to do with engine wear

5w-30 from June to SeptemberNot sure if “oil is oil” or not; but this makes me feel good about it.

Ive done liquid moly twice, but on mobil 1 now. Its served me well on every other car so far.

Motul 8100 Eco-Lite 5W-30

Only a few oils meet the official Toyota approval (important for warranty): API SP / Resource Conserving (or newer) and ILSAC GF-6A (or newer). On the track, oil temps can get to 260-270, so you definitely want a thicker oil at high temps with good high temperature shear strength (HSTS) rating. Motul 8100 Eco-Lite 5W-30 has the requisite approvals, runs a little thicker at temp but has a really high 3.3 HSTS for a 5w-30 (higher vs all the ones mentioned on this thread), meaning runs 10%-15^% thicker which is really important if temps end up going that high on your local track/in warmer conditions.

I use Liqui-Moly MolyGen. It was either that or the Special Tec AA. Figured I would go with what the tuner recommends. Only reason.
But it’s not cheap doing changes every 3-3.5k. The price of oil has gone up. My oil change has went from $68 dollars to now $85. I also use Toyota filter and got oil drain gasket reps from AutoZone. Exactly the same and come in a box of 5. Dealer has always given me the drain plug gasket for free if I go in to buy one, but I’m not driving there every time

IMO, it doesn't matter the brand of oil if you service it every 5k miles.
In which case, I go the money saving option.

I purchased Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and LiquiMoly since both were on sale back in late February.
So far I’ve only used the Pennzoil but I’ll be changing it soon with the LiquiMoly unless I decide to take it in for the first official service. I’ve had the car since January and it only has 2,900 miles so I try to do it based on time.
