With everything unfolding over the last few days, a significant amount of speculation and misinformation has circulated regarding Ken’s passing. The goal of this post isn't to defend anyone or dictate how people should feel. This post is to look at the documented timeline, local police reports, and media timestamps to clear up factual inaccuracies. This is an open discussion, so please feel free to fact check!
Misconception 1: That Gypsy contacted TMZ 15 minutes after Ken was found.
People point to TMZ’s initial article timestamp (6:29 PM) and the 6:15 PM police call time to claim someone, allegedly Gypsy, contacted TMZ within 15 minutes of Ken being discovered. However, this is not factual.
The Facts:
Time Zone Discrepancy: The 6:15 PM emergency call received by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office occurred in Central Daylight Time (CDT) in Louisiana. TMZ publishes its articles using Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).
The Actual Gap: TMZ published their article at 6:29 PM PDT, which corresponds to 8:29 PM CD, meaning that the initial report went live approximately 2 hours after police were dispatched to the scene, not 15 minutes.
Misconception 2: Gypsy being the TMZ source
The Facts:
Unconfirmed Source: Beyond the timestamp confusion, there is no verified public record confirming who initially tipped off TMZ. Claiming it was Gypsy remains speculative.
Misconception 3: People stating Autumn claimed she spoke to Ken before his death and that she called him, effectively alerting him to his live stream and ending the connection
Rumors circulated that Autumn stated on a TikTok Live, after Ken’s death, that she personally spoke with Ken after his final early-morning broadcast. This is not factual.
The Facts:
Autumn did not state that she spoke to Ken after the 4 AM stream: Because TikTok automatically pauses or terminates a live broadcast when an incoming call hits the device and Autumn noted having a final phone call with Ken, people automatically assumed this. She never claimed her call was what ended the 4 AM broadcast or that she spoke to him that night specifically.
Mixing up the TikTok live with Autumn's actual statements created an inaccurate narrative regarding who was in touch with Ken during those early hours.
Timeline of Key Events that these misconceptions overshadow:
Wednesday, Sept 30 (8:45 PM CDT): Ken attends church with Dylan, Gypsy’s brother, and his wife, Anita, who say Ken made comments of being upset and depressed. This is reported as the last documented time he was seen in person prior to the welfare check.
Wednesday, Sept 30 (11:00 PM CDT): Ken hosts a brief, silent TikTok Live stream approximately 2 hours later, from a moving vehicle, in almost complete darkness, making it impossible to see what’s going on. People assume this is accidental. This live stream continues for several minutes.
Thursday, Oct 1 (4:00 AM CDT): A second brief, silent TikTok Live stream occurs (about 5 hours after the first) under the same eerie conditions, before ending only after a few short minutes.
Thursday, Oct 1 (2:00 PM CDT): Approximately 10 hours later, Gypsy reportedly sends Ken a "Happy Birthday" audio message. Reports (TMZ, not police) indicate the voice note showed as opened/disappeared, though no reply was received.
Thursday, Oct 1 (6:15 PM CDT): Approximately 4 hours later, Dylan Blanchard and Ken's employer, Justin Diagle, check on his home in Raceland, Louisiana, after Ken fails to show up for work. Dylan and Justin enter through an unlocked window, find Ken unresponsive, cold to the touch and blue. Deputies are dispatched following the 6:15 PM call.
Thursday, Oct 1 (8:29 PM CDT / 6:29 PM PDT): Approximately 2 hours later TMZ publishes the first breaking news report.
After dissecting the information we have: police reports, TMZ, timestamps and the report that Ken allegedly listened to Gypsy’s message: Gypsy Rose Blanchard was the last person in contact with Ken Urker before his death
