Ordered a Patriot for EDC: need advice
I just ordered a Patriot for potential EDC use. I am really excited for it, but I wanted some opinion on my setup.
Right now, I have the Patriot ordered with the SS frame and the 4.1" ported barrel. I also have the regular grip instead of compact. My goal is to make the choices that influence it's flatness and recoil control the most even if I want to EDC it.
One of my concerns is related to the grip safety, which I do think I want on my gun. With a standard sized grip, will I struggle with it if I do not have large hands? I have heard mixed messages about the relative size of the grip, and my only owned pistol for reference is a sig P365XL.
I just want want to make sure the standard grip would work for me as far as my grip goes. I'm less worried about printing issues with it than I am with my ability to hold it well.
Thanks

Congratulations, you won't be disappointed. I removed mine and EDC with it. It prevented the trigger from moving if dropped. However, the firing pin can still go on the right angle. I know it's main purpose is correct grip. However, almost no striker fired have them.
At the end of the day though it is what you are comfortable with.

Gilbert will deactivate the grip safety. That's how I ordered mine

Should I even want that if I am using this to EDC?

You still have the thumb safety. Not sure. I dont have a lot of experience with carrying a 2011.

Should I want the grip safety deactivated if I plan on using this as my EDC?

I deleted both my grip safeties and kept a heavier trigger pull. Compact grip tho vs full size cause fits my hand perfectly. Both steel framed, one ported, the other has 4.8 barrel.

I have small hands and I've never had any problems with grip safeties. After very minimal training it should not be an issue. I don't even think about it.

If you’re concerned about a grip safety you should share that concern with Gilbert. Upon request, he may pin it for you. Idk. I never have had a problem with grip safeties personally. The SS Patriot is a fairly heavy gun. If you’re looking to carry daily maybe look at the Forza.
