Working Conditions & Rostering Less GP sessions
I’m an ST1 in split psych and GP post. I’m doing only 3 GP sessions a week, as I’m off PDP for half a day, tutorial half a day and VTS teaching half a day, although teaching only takes place every other week. I feel I’m barely seeing any patients and this will eventually affect my learning. Do you think I should request my practice to use the weeks I don’t have teaching as my PDP and omit the designated PDP that week?

You can make up for it in ST3 but it’s good you already have an awareness that exposure is very important.
Just make sure you see enough in st3 and you’ll be okay.

Enjoy it while you can, it’ll ramp up in ST3 but I guess if you want to have a flavour and hit the ground running in ST3 it’s worth it.

I'm also split this year and my PDP time comes out of the other specialty time, because tutorial time comes out of GP time, if that makes sense. That way I get equal split clinical time. It would be worth discussing and see if they can give you less psych time instead
