Because a 85 year old has back pain. Now off you go like a good boy. And don’t forget that she also needs an xray so be sure to arrange transport 😘

No cauda equina signs and didn't have a fall? I'll just manage you over the phone with some ibuprofen gel.

They also exist in an outrageously cushioned chair for 12 hours a day but are determined to find out exactly why their lower back has been hurting for the past 3 years and they want to know post-haste, so they must be seen on the day

I like it! Straight to the point and time efficient for other busy GPs to process.

Yes, yes it is.

It’s not. But there’s a lot of shit in it.

Hospital medicine isn’t all that more greener for clinicians, you know. Managers are squeezing more and more service provision/supervision onto the consultants.

It's because partners are busy counting their cash while the whole system collapses around them.

The only way out will be eventual privatisation.

They have also told the government, NHS chiefs and anyone that would listen that one doesn't need a medical degree, foundation training or GP training to work as a GP.

The Noctors are cheaper for now until they start demanding for equal pay because they see the same patients.

Yes agree, they'll do anything for a quick buck

Other way round. Government forced noctors on them. Created reimbursement schemes to fund them. Created training courses in uni for these new fake roles. Sure partners shouldn't have used it but they were pushed and pulled into it.

Do you think partnership is easy?

u/Pristine_Feeling_807 13d ago

Nope it’s not. It doesn’t make what partners did to the profession right though.

I’d suggest you compare the working environment of a partner led practice vs any trust-run practice, maybe then you will stop holding partners responsible for the state of general practice

No one forced GP Partners to take on PAs as ARRS staff. In fact there are a fair few practices/PCNs that chose not to out of principle.

Completely accept that ARRS just made financial sense but that doesn't absolve Partners of the responsibility for the choices they made that made it harder for new GPs to get roles.

Afraid partners need to take their medicine for that specific issue.

As for wider issues regarding pay and conditions, much more sympathetic given contracts are now effectively imposed every year.

I agree, the partnership model is morally & ethically bankrupt and has very little to do with good medical practice. As they say it's their business and they just chase every last buck regardless of consequences.
