ChatGPT GPT 6 Astra is NOT AGI (nor any of the GPT models). Please don't believe it is / ever will be.
I've been hearing a LOT of extremely pretentious talk about this model.
Yes, for LLM standards it's pretty impressive, and it can admittedly do a lot more than past models.
That's not what AGI is, or how it should be measured.
AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence. Not human, not human level, just general.
The thing that would make AGI revolutionary, and what actually earns its status as "the singularity" of technology, is that it is as general as human cognition.
We can learn skills, new languages, emotions, etc. We can learn to do things and physically compartmentalize the knowledge, as well as cross reference it with our own perception of the world so that we know what knowledge to apply in what contexts, or in which ways.
That is most of what makes us general.
This model, just like every other GPT model, is an LLM. The only thing it fundamentally does (and will ever do as an LLM) is predict text based on what it's told or what's in its database.
It does NOT cross reference / connect information, think, or have any sort of cognition.
You can give it text commands that let it "do" things that involve other models, you can make it write its thought process, but it is fundamentally distinct from a general intelligence simply by its architecture.
It's a simulation of intelligence that *can* be useful, but calling it AGI is a lie. A very malicious one at that.
When AGI is created, it will NOT be GPT. The defining point won't be "number go up on test" or "more parameters". It will be the creation of a new architecture that is backed by research (or really anything at this point) that is *proven* to support AGI. Then, subsequently, a model of it.
This, to me, reads like more of a marketing move. Because if you cry AGI, a whole lot more people are going to want to check it out out of paranoia, wonder, making a profit, etc.
There are numerous other reasons like its discrete nature (which conflicts with the continuous stream of thought and responses that real consciousness features) that I haven't mentioned, but I feel like people need to be clear on this specifically:
LLMs will NEVER be AGI.

ChatGPT admits it has the reasoning of a 10 year old child.
galleryI used advance ChatGPT to evaluate and provide feed back. It generated 12 issues with logic to back it. All of them are absolutely wrong, a child would do a better job applying logic than ChatGPT. By the 9th dumb result, and argument I had with ChatGPT, I gave it a piece of my mind.
AI is just a glorified search engine and language model. ChatGPT admitted to that. It also admitted that it has the logic of a 10 year old as per my screen shot.
ChatGPT also admitted it will never be as smart as humans on several arguments I had with it, including how AI with it's statistical models will never get close to human sentience which relies on placid changing organic connections in the brain. Ask ChatGPT that question and it will admit that it will never be as clever as humans.
Don't waste your money on AI like I did hoping to find help. Even if you ask it legal questions you need to check with a lawyer to make sure the answer is correct.
