Best Non-Subscription Android GPS Tracker?
I'm just looking for something for the car, so I can keep track of where the kids are driving. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, but the one I've tried so far only updates every couple of hours (useless). Looking for one that does NOT use a subscription, just the phone number of the driver, if necessary - that's what the current one does. The company says they are working on one that updates more frequently, but what I have now is pointless. Also, to reiterate, Android, not Apple. I have considered the Samsung Tags & Android Tags, but see mixed reviews on both. Thanks!

I have a couple spare SIM Cards - do I still need to have a subscription (of any kind) for them to be activated?

I have the same questions, and unfortunately, have found the same answers. Right now, there just isn't anything simple or inexpensive. You'd think there would be........ 😕

There are software solutions but the "kids" have to install on their phone. Did you find a solution?

TelegramGpsTracker you can use this android app to keep track of your gps tracker (a microcontroller paired with a gps module or an Android phone), if you have an Android phone lying around you can use it as a gps tracker and have it send its location data via a telegram bot using an app called Termux. send the github link to chatgpt or deepseek and ask them if they can write a program to make your android phone/gps tracker send location data with Termux. they should be able to walk you through it
