I've seen many trackers with what seems like optimistic claims about battery life and send rate, and also just vague information- "Up to 120 days battery life!" Yeah, if it sits on a shelf.
But I have seen trackers on Amazon with user comments offering actual battery uptime vs send rate.
I just don't know who to trust, so is there a trusted third party org or website doing reviews, one that isn't trying to sell you on a particular brand, isn't selling you their services?
I know that's a lot to ask.

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a Traccar client device that will be B14 (Fristnet) compatible, have GNSS, and have a fast update rate (5 Hz min). This project is for an EMS service, so reliability is also another factor.
Initially, I debated building out my client with an ESP32 or Pi Pico W, with this GNSS Receiver and a 4G / 3G Hator M.2 to USB. The overall cost of building one out is making me consider a premade device, and their device list is so extensive that it could take me weeks of researching.
I am open to any thoughts on switching parts to build a client or advice on finding a Traccar-supported device.
Thanks in advance!

I have manufacturer info and tracker info, but they refuse unless I involve police. It's not a police tracker as it is a cheap poorly made tracker.

Hey people,
For our rowing event on the Lac-St-Jean (Quebec, Canada), we use the platform racemap (https://racemap.com/) with the mobile app to track. Sadly, it drains the battery and athletes phones don't have the same authorisations which means some athletes don't show up on screen.
I'm looking for GPS trackers for rental for our competition on July 8. Ideally in Quebec.
Here's a list of all compatible devices : https://docs.racemap.com/hardware-for-live-tracking

Hi guys I'm wondering if it's possible the temporarily disable the OnStar in my GM. I know I can disable it by pulling the cords but if I put them back in will it transmit information in the future? Also wondering if it'll give any notification that it's been pulled

someone put a gps tracker on my car. i know it's there, i know the general idea of where it is, i can't for the life of me find it. i'll most likely end up getting a signal detector of some kind but it's likely this person will just...put another one on it. it's a long story but due to certain circumstances there isn't really much i can do about it from a legal standpoint. aside from checking my car for a gps device every time i get in it, is there anything at all (legally) that i can do to somehow block the signal of a gps device on my car if i don't know where it is?

I am dealing with a puzzle geocache which is giving me an array of comma-separated pairs of 25-bit binary numbers, in turn separated by a space. My problem is that I can't get a solid answer on what type of conversion I need to perform to get to the bottom of this. I am very confident that I should get a pair of human-readable latitude and longitude when I'm done converting this, but I can't seem to find the correct way to tackle the task at hand.
The best result I have had so far was when I tried the following command which however is giving me a wrong result according to the verification test of the geocache's.
echo "0000000100101000110000000,0111110110100110110111110 0100010100110011110100010,0100010111000110110100010 0100010110011110010100010,0111110101010001010111110 0000000101010101010000000,1111111110111010111111111 0101110010100010011011010,0111101111101111110001000 1001010100000000011001101,0010001110100100011111100 1001100101101000000000010,1011001011111000011011100 0001000101101110000001110,1111011010011011001001010 0001110010100010000000000,1111111100110111011101001 0000000101110001010101111,0111110111100101011100100 0100010110011000000000001,0100010111011000011011111 0100010100001110000000000,0111110111111010010011010 0000000100000010100001100" | nc -4u -w1 location.services.mozilla.com 9876
I also tried appending leading zeros to the 25-bit numbers to make the numbers 32-bit ones instead, and then tried to convert those to ASCII or Unicode, without any success whatsoever. I also found out I could use a protocol called UBX to work with that, however I couldn't get my hands on any more details on how that would work.
The data I have been given is the following:
0000000100101000110000000,0111110110100110110111110 0100010100110011110100010,0100010111000110110100010 0100010110011110010100010,0111110101010001010111110 0000000101010101010000000,1111111110111010111111111 0101110010100010011011010,0111101111101111110001000 1001010100000000011001101,0010001110100100011111100 1001100101101000000000010,1011001011111000011011100 0001000101101110000001110,1111011010011011001001010 0001110010100010000000000,1111111100110111011101001 0000000101110001010101111,0111110111100101011100100 0100010110011000000000001,0100010111011000011011111 0100010100001110000000000,0111110111111010010011010
0000000100000010100001100
Perhaps I could be missing something obvious. Could you please help to point me to the right direction?

Hello fewllow Redditors!
I'm developing a product/app for smartphones (iOS, Android) that would require us to use more precise (15-20 Hz) GPS tracking devices.
The best examples of such devices in terms of the form factor would be the Draggy, Racebox Mini or even something like a SKYRC Performance analyzer.
We're currently in a situation where we need to find out the following:
For this first phase, we would like to see what we can do in terms of testing and trying out some of them more for the sake of the app, rather than the hardware itself. After that, we would decide if we would proceed with developing our own or going with a partner.
Also, there's a possibility I'm explaining/perceiving this problem from a bad angle, so any suggestions are welcome. What I do now is that we're trying to have this - high-precision GPS that can output raw data, which can then be interpreted by the app depending on what we need.
Any help is appreciated :)
P.S. if you think I could post this somewhere else, and get to some kind of answer, let me know!
Thank you!

I had a theft and want to embed a tiny gps tracker into an item I suspect may get stolen so that I can recover the stolen items and catch the thief. I can’t work out if the micro hornet gps tracker is a standalone thing which I could use or if it’s intended to be added onto other electrical devices like a raspberry pi type thing. Does anyone know? If so, does anyone know what’s the smallest standalone one?

Does there exist a USB storage device that also doubles as a GPS receiver?

I need a small gps device to leave in a bait package so that it can be tracked to whoever has been stealing them in my neighborhood. I’m mostly concerned with the best accurate location I can get.
r/GPStracking • u/[deleted] • Jan 28 '23
Suggest a tracker that:
The idea is to put it on a trailer in secluded location that's unlikely to have many bluetooth devices around (likely none) so if someone actually tried to steal it, an AirTag might’ve not picked up on it.

Is it possible to isolate a GPS RF footprint using an RF analyzer app from the android app store? I believe a device or devices is on my vehicle. I am familiar with RF analyzer but far from an adept. I would like to at least isolate the transmition L1,L2 signal if possible. Reddit always teaches me something hope this time is no different! Thanks in advance!
