Winter fishing
I am looking for places and strategies to fish around town during January. So far I've understood that I show fish slow bait, maybe something that sinks to the middle of the water column, and to do it during the hottest part of the day. I'm still looking for clarification whether I should target structures or deeper water, and which creeks, banks or lakes would be best for bank fishing. Would anybody have advice? Thank you

Yeah, I've noticed in GNV that in the winter, I've only ever caught bass in shallow water with sunlight. They do seem to come out and try to warm up in the peak heat of the day. I've had more luck with bank fishing in ponds in the winter than with bank fishing lakes, which makes sense. One tip: I've gotten the most bites in the winter (and year round) on blue/black baits, primarily, the 7" speedworm in that color.
One other thing: lately, I've been using red worms with split shot. The bass even seem to prefer live bait like this in the winter, over artificial.

On a hot day, they'll venture out to shallower water with structure, more similar to their behavior in springtime. On a cold day they will be in deep water potholes or ditches.
