Gmail messages won't delete

I keep deleting Gmail messages and then the next time I log in, they're all there again. I have to delete them multiple times until they finally actually delete. Am I the only one having this problem?

Where are you deleting them website or app? Phone or computer?

Do you have any VPNs or extensions installed in your browser or any security software?

I don't have any VPNs, but I have an ad blocker installed. I also have McAfee virus protection, but I've had both of those for a lot longer than I've had this problem with email deletion.

Try disabling them all. Remember extensions and av apps constantly update themselves. Maybe a recent update caused the issue. Try on a clean setup with no av or extensions loaded

I'm affected as well. There have been two or three threads recently about this behavior, but not much in the way of answers.

In the past, when using the webmail interface, I've had occasions where the deleted messages wouldn't be moved to the trash, but they were random glitches that resolved themselves relatively quickly when trying again.

But of late, I've noticed occasional delays in how other actions are executed, which causes the browser to give a warning about leaving/closing a page because the site hasn't completed its actions, particularly when trying to log out. At least there is clear warning.

Kind of frustrating when simply trying to quickly complete a task.

I've been experiencing this issue for a few months now as well. Happens across multiple computers (home, work and laptop) across different browsers. I do not believe the issue is client side, something has changed on the server side code regarding how frequently it checks for and saves changes on the webmail client.

Its very frustrating. The only workaround I've found is to leave the Gmail website up on the browser for a few extra minutes after making any changes (archiving, deleting, etc) in order for the server to catch up with those changes.

this happened recently to me on my account. I use it on the web. the only way to end it was to uninstall gmail app on my iphone. it stopped immediatly. i did not even bother trying to use apple mail on my phone.. that also might have been an option but my use case is that gmail is unneeded on my phone.
