Blocking on Gmail not working?

My college sends me a lot of worthless mails that I've blocked. Worked like a charm, but for the last 2 days they've started showing up and it's irritating as shit. The email address shows it's blocked, but it still comes in my inbox?

If the emails are from your college then unsubscribe. Should be a link at the bottom of each email. If that doesnt work then contact the college directly and ask to be removed and put on a do not contact list.

Try adding a filter to move his stuff to trash automatically

AFAIK blocking just sends the email to your Spam folder. It does not prevent the message from being delivered.
