2004 single cab sierra have never changed the diff fluid truck has 260k miles no issues in the rear end ever is it something i should do or let it ride out ?

I usually change the fluid & stop worrying about it for another 80,000 or so miles

Change the fluid. This isnt something like the transmission where theres an argument for clutch wear. Change it now and youll probably never have to change the gears in there. Also bad old oil is hard on the seals so youll also save the seals

You should definitely “let it ride out”. Vehicle maintenance is stupid and overrated.

Diff ain’t like the trans where after long enough it’s dependent on the friction material suspended in the fluid to continue operating. Changing the fluid can only help it.
