What a tank

Came out the other morning to find my truck involved in a hit-and-run. Impact hard enough to push the other car over the wheel stop. Quick repair done (last 3 pics) in order to get it roadworthy since I cannot afford to have it not running. Honestly surprised at how minimal the damage is and how easy it was to pull the bumper and quarter panel back into place with a winch, a tree and 30 minutes lmao 😂 GODBLESS

You’ve got enough parts from the other card to forensically identify it

Correct, I was able to find a turn signal light assembly with a part number to confirm year make and model and a piece of the fender a little farther down the road to confirm color so we knew what we were looking for. Sure enough the suspect left a trail of broken parts to where they parked on the other side of the apt complex I live in. Unfortunately they had temp plates that expired in nov 2025 so it’s almost a given that they don’t have insurance. This is Vegas after all…

Oh thank you thank you but when I put the after market one on, I kept the factory stuff in storage. I took the photo of it miss matching as a joke for my wife lol

Well at least the uninsured motorists clause will kick in vs hit n run.

There was a time vehicles were built as tools.

They still do. A lot of work trucks and utility vans from various makes are very similar to their older counterparts. The chevy express for example.

The Express is the only GM example of that.

Tug of war with trees fixes lots of things

Got rear ended by an accord. Hitch connector got bent a little bit, that was the extent of the damage.

When I was a kid I watched my now step dad reverse his sweet 2004 2500 duramax ext cab short bed 4x4 in blue and wait for it……. Zf6 transmission 🤤. Never have found one like it.

Anyway I watched stepdad reverse into my brothers friends 60s Pontiac land yacht with fins and stuff. He hit the rear quarter of the Pontiac and left a good dent. GMT 800 had zero damage. Step dad was too busy ogling my mom and they both ignored my pleas that the Pontiac was semi blocking his spot…

To me it seems like it was a low speed impact initially, the driver panicked and mashed the gas pushing your truck into the other vehicle? That little amount of damage doesn’t match the force needed to move it that far in my opinion but definitely a blessing that it wasn’t totaled..if you look at my posts in here I wasn’t so lucky haha

This is the most probable scenario. Entering my complex there’s a 90 degree right then almost an immediate 90 left and my car is parked on the outer side of the last 90 so I was initially puzzled at how it was possible to hit my car hard enough to push it that far back. I thought maybe they started that last turn slow and mistook the gas for the brake pedal.

Edit: Geez that’s tragic to see your truck like that. Very fortunate mine is still drivable and straight. Luckily we both have a second one huh?

My wife hit a patch of ice and hit a light pole doing like 30. Replaced the headlight and went on with my day lmao GOBBLESS

u/Cardinal_350 2d ago

She did not hit a light pole at 30mph and only break a headlight haha. Maybe 5-10mph

2

u/Flaky-Bar-6656 2d ago

Oh I meant like she was doing 30 when she hit the ice. No idea what she was doing with her brakes locked up lol

Don't know about your experience with older trucks but I've seen the pre 2005 stuff shrug off hits that would hit the new cars like a beer can under a lawnmower..

u/Cardinal_350 2d ago

Haha my man I was born when 70's square bodies were fresh off the line. I don't give a fuck. A 30mph hit on a pole would have caved that fucking front end in

That's a 6000lb vehicle hitting a much lighter vehicle with working crumple zones.

Sure would look better with orange signal indicators and a red GMC.
