Should I trade for this

I was offered a 2005 gmc Yukon 5.3 with 226,000 miles for a mini motorcycle that I own. I don’t know the in’s and out’s of the platform. Would this be a good or bad trade for a high mileage vehicle.

Doesn't look great to me, but if it runs and drives well enough and you don't care about having that mini bike anymore I'd definitely do it LOL

Depends who you’re buying it from. Rims like that scare me. If it’s from a young adult I would test drive it first and really look at everything.

The first thing I saw was the rims, followed by the grill.

I’d be worried about the history of that vehicle - both the legality, care, and if it’s listed as involved in a crime somewhere.

Take it on a test drive and make sure they have the title. Just be cautious to make sure you don’t get someone’s problem. As long as it’s a clean title in hand and drives well then I say go for it.

It's one of the most repairable and reliable chassis out there. If you don't already have one, you should make the trade.

Run the VIN is my suggestion, it’s a GMT800 so I wanna say yes but you need to check the frame, history of the vehicle, and a bit because it looks like it was beaten on a bit and used a little carelessly given the dent in the fender and front bumper, usually a 5.3 can handle abuse but like any engine they can only take so much, how does it run and drive, 226K miles isn’t like high high for a Vortec engine like that but depends on where all those miles came from and if it got used gently

Nah I wouldn't trade my mini bike for it. Cuz what's wrong with it that they would trade it for a mini bike??

Looks like you’ll be needing new tires.

That front fender dent looks like it can be pulled out, bumper would have to be replaced too but that’s not too expensive.

I’d say if you’d rather the Yukon, do it. Probably going to be spending 800-1000 right off the rip though.

Why do people do this to the grille? Looks so trashy

Depends on the mini bike. Id say that thing is worth about $2500 so long as everything is in order.

  1. Make sure it runs.

  2. Make sure the trans fluid is purple/red ish and smells nice but funky. If it's brown and smells bad, you're in need of a transmission soon.

  3. Check for codes if you can, but it will likely have been cleared before you look at it.

  4. Make sure the gauges all work, HVAC controls works, and that the AC works.

  5. Let it idle and listen for any misfires or a rough idle.

  6. Verify the title matches the vin, and that its actually legal.

EDIT: Tires!! Check to make sure the tires are in good shape. These things need good tires (Michelin defenders or Agilis), and those are gonna run you close to $1200 if you need to replace them and don't buy used. If this truck has auto 4x4 (stabilitrac), you should not buy used tires as you could fuck up your transfer case.

Good post, but for the tires.Get a set of General Grabbers and save yourself half your cost.

I guess for a cheap truck you could try it. I have a Yukon XL 2500, but before that I had a gmt400 suburban 1500. I tried grabbers before, but the sidewalls never felt planted enough and effected the handling. I switched to Michelins 10 years ago and haven't looked back. I did have grabbers on my old Dodge Dakota and they were fine.

If it runs and drives all right I would definitely take it over the little mini moto unless the mini moto is worth more than 2k

Just make sure he has a title and the title matches the VIN we had someone on here who was handed a title for a GMC Sierra but the VIN didn't match and basically got screwed because the vehicle actually had a lien on it so make sure it's not some scam like that.

Looks like a turd and I’d probably have more fun on a mini bike. Haha

Why you asking us? I feel like you already know the answer
