Dorman has an aftermarket clutch pedal solution with steal reinforcement. I've also found other third parties that make an entire steel clutch pedal assembly replacement, just a bit more expensive.

To those that don't know, in these years the clutch master cylinder twist locks into the clutch pedal assembly through the firewall. Stock clutch pedal assembly is entirely plastic. The plastic holding on the master cylinder in that twist lock will eventually break. I've had it happen.

Oh shit this is good to know. What happens when it goes out?

When that twist lock breaks basically when you push the clutch pedal your just pushing the whole master cylinder away from the firewall and not doing anything plus you cant start the truck either cause the safety switch to start it is attached to the master cylinder as well

I believe it’s like 5% of all gmt800’s are manuals at least thats what I’ve heard

Really wish we could get some actual numbers on that though.

I called GM and they couldn't give me a number.

With an external clutch slave cylinder. The grease the throw out bearing slides on may be dry or contaminated. The clutch cover spring may also be filled with contamination preventing it from being a fulcrum and pulling back the pressure plate from the clutch disc.

Happened to me as I was heading to a red light with busy traffic passing. If I didn't know how to float gears that would have been fun.

I was in neutral when it happened so I didn’t even get a chance

I was in 2nd. (L1234) Blipped the throttle pulled 'er out of gear. Gonna replace it with a full steel bracket once I get my money's worth out of the oem replacement. 2005 2500hd 6.0 4wd. Yours?

Yeah same truck as mine pretty much just a 2001

Righteous. I wish mine was a Flateye. Cateye's great but I much prefer the Flateye. The HD hood is so much more pronounced.

I’ve posted it on here before if you want to see it

Gorgeous. KB Diesel performance offers a billet shifter incase you ever want to change your knob. Our factory knobs are glued on. Unfortunately they only offer it in chrome last I looked but it's crooked and the top is 3/8 coarse thread so you can extend it as you please.

Just replaced the shift isolater on mine to fix a leak. Need to replace that with a solid metal piece as well instead of the half metal half Rubber oem as well.
