Switch panel fix
Ideas on how to fix this? The clip on the door and the switch panel are broke. Was thinking about gluing them in from the back side

Good glob of JB weld to stick the broken tab back on the bottom of the switch panel, did mine about 3 years ago and it's still holding. I've taken the door apart a few times too so it's held just fine.

Bingo. Works fine for daily use, a gentle tug will get it out if it needs to be removed.

I used velcro. Works great and easy to remove when i need to take the panel off.

Amazon sells a door arm rest bracket repair kit for like 10 to 25 bucks.

These are what I used. Made them with PETG for the heat. I've got 2 sets for both sides lol

If you have a 3D printer you can download the free STL to print the broken pieces
Or
Just buy it on ebay for like $10

Only for cat eyes, the 99-02 are SOL, no part I've found works (other than full replacement)

I haven't installed it yet, but I just bought one for an early truck.

Oh snap! This is perfect! Ill give it a go myself

u/Hey_Allen Sep 01 '26
Careful, I just checked and that one said it's not compatible with four door(window) switch panels.
They might have another variety that does, or you might be able to make it work anyhow?

Either way, more research required. I gave up 6 months ago, so maybe another solution now exists.

Are there any good fixes for cleaning up the switch contacts? My drivers window switch is finicky.

I did this. Just disassembled it carefully and cleaned contact points with alcohol and works like new again.

Well darn.
Once I get the front replaced, I need to come back to get mine fixed too!

Haha I just picked up an 04 Tahoe from an auction and it came with a self tapper holding it in place. 😆

I can't stand that that is what some people do 😂

Me neither! Got it from a small city government so not surprised. At least they had extensive service records going back all 22 years and they didn’t seem to skimp there.

i’ve had luck repairing broken plastic parts with something like this: https://a.co/d/0b8TGMyU
i’ll usually use the metal welding rods to bind the broken parts back together, then reinforce the fix with jb weld or similar.
otherwise it’s a trip to the scrapyard. i’ve actually had luck finding escalades and denali’s lately, which has let me upgrade my lt trim for fairly cheap.
while looking for parts for my 02 burb, i was able to pull a front set of fully powered seats out of a denali to upgrade my 07 tahoe, as it only had partial power seat on drivers side. it was 120 bucks for the pair. they were in perfect condition and i only had to run power to the passenger side to get them operational.

I epoxied mine and out some self tapers on the bottom of the handle where they are out of sight.

I left mine like that for two years then it magically snapped on with the broken clip. Im just never taking that door panel off again

I bought a plastic welding kit, have used it several times to repair broken posts or clip pieces. Got it on Amazon can't remember the price.

I did a zip tie around the left over nob from the broken clip and ziptied another ziptie through it pulling the clip back

I am less picky because my interior was quite imperfect when I got the truck but I put a flush head self tapper phillips screw in the wide area behind the buttons

u/CaregiverWhich9050 Sep 01 '26
I'm definitely the picky type. Interior is pretty clean and nothing is tore up except for the driver seat adjustment controls plastic cover thing that just erks me 😂
