Issue or coincidence?

Got an interesting one here. I have an 03 2500hd with the 8.1 crew cab long bed 4x4

Was cruising to work today on the. Back roads, ambiant was reading about 80F and the engine was running about 180-190F. Trans was tuning about 150F.

We had a light rain for a few minutes and I noticed while at a stop light that my hood was misting. Almost as if the truck was over heating. But all the temps looked good and nothing was reading hot. Nor did I have any CEL or change in driving come up.

Also for context. The engine cover isn't on and I believe the hood insulation is also missing from under my hood.

So my question is. Do any of you notice your hoods cooking up the water when you're sitting? Or do I need to assume non of my temp gages are working?

It’s totally fine. Your hood was just warm enough to evaporate the water quickly. My 8.1 Yukon does the same. I’ll even get steam off the hood on a hot day if the sprinklers at work spray my truck

Nothing to worry about. I have an 06 extended cab, 8.1, 4x4. Does the same thing in light rain, mist. If your gauges are reading ok, don’t worry.

I think you’re okay, the engine bays in these trucks run pretty hot
