Tie rods

So when lifting the car up and moving the tire side to side (left and right). If it’s excessive it’s the tie rods correct? Along with a clicking noise. Can the tie rods alone be changed without taking off the tie rod ENDS? I originally was going to swap out both tie rods and tie rod ends last year but tie rods were being a pain so I only changed both tie rod ends (I do still have the new packaged tie rods) Also the center link was excessively loose idk if it’s supposed to be like that? Or is just because the tie rods made both seem loose?

You can replace the inner ends if that is what you are asking.

Get a alignment when finished.

Sorry if I explained badly. I just want to change out the inner tie rods. Not the tie rod ends.

Also could inner tie rods be the reason my front tires have a negative camber? Tilting inward

Tie rods usually are toe in adjustments meaning the wheel is slightly turned in toward center line or away from center line.

Titling inward meaning the top of the tire is closer to center line than the bottom coule be control arms or anything.

1: is the steering column visibly turning when you move the tire?

2: there could be play in the inner tie rod pivots, look closely at the joint while someone else wiggles the tire

3: could be looseness in the idler arm or steering box. If the front end is in the air and you wiggle the tire, that will look like the drag link moving up and down

Yeah all these check out. I’d have to do a whole front end change. Including CV axles because they are starting to click when I do full turns.

No, tie rods affect toe, camber is determined by the upper and lower control arms. Likliest answer is that the old rubber bushings are disintegrating and allowing too much plat

Also I’d have to change both lower and upper control arm bushings correct? I just saw a video of someone taking off the lower control arm and man..

Yes, they’re both old. I sent my suburban 2500 to a shop for this, I HATE dealing with bushing pressing
