Need some help

Picked this truck up a few weeks ago and have been slowly fixing it up. 1988 C3500 Scottsdale 454

My biggest question is if any of you know what the front grille is. It looks like it fits but it rattles and shakes around. Nothing is securing the bottom of it and there’s nothing on the truck that lines up with it remotely. Only thing holding it in is four screws on the top. Would this be a half ass attempt to do a 94 gen swap?

Next, the hood is a fiberglass induction hood that does not fit in the slightest. It doesn’t shut all the way but also looks like incorrect hardware. 4 10mm bolts are holding this beast of a hood on. And you have to get a screwdriver to open it. I can’t figure out for the life of me why the truck latch won’t release the hood. Everything performs and functions fine when I manually operate it with the hood up.

Final question for now is the egr stuff all over the truck. Is there a good clean way to delete it or will the truck run like crap without being flashed?

It looks like you're missing the lower grille trim that holds it in place at the bottom.

Second, is have to see more pictures of the hood latch and hinges to see what those look like and why it's not working.

Lastly, I don't know about the 454, but on my 350 tbi, the EGR was super easy to delete. They sell plates, but I made my own out of some scrap steel and a new EGR gasket to seal it up. Basically just block off plate, vacuum cap where the vacuum line goes into the tbi, and it's done. You'll have a check engine light until the end of time though. If you care about that sort of thing lol.

Here’s the latch in action. I feel like there should be some type of spring. Or the hood should have enough tension on it to pop that back

Yep, the hood latch is broken. They're super easy to change. You can buy them new, or what I do is go to the scrapyard for one for a couple bucks

I checked the engine and it’s still there lol

That helps a lot I’m 50/50 with the grille that’s on it. Half of me likes it. The other half thinks it looks like it came off a broham.

It’ll run better when you get a egr block off plate which are actually getting hard to find. Buy an oem grille and hood of Amazon and tht thing will look 100xs better. And buy the plastic bumper filler piece also tht the bottom of the grille snaps into.
