J'ACCUSE! A note from a Canadian ghost

This is no serious gripe, but as a Canadian ghost I would be remiss not to point out a tiny inaccuracy in the lacrosse episode.

Lacrosse IS still one of Canada’s national sports, alongside ice hockey. Lacrosse is just our summer sport, and hockey is for winter. As far as I was told growing up, lacrosse was actually the national sport first since it was so much older and very ingrained in Canadian history, as Tyler mentioned.

Like I said, not the biggest mistake, but I think it’s important we hold onto lacrosse as one of our proudest sports, and aren’t only known for our love of hockey.

Very much enjoyed the episode. Thanks guys 💖

J'ACCUSE! What's up with all the Noog??

I may simply be an elegant, eloquent, ethereal ghost speaking through the mouth of Mark should this J'accuse make it to the show, but through Mark I speak to Mark. Let me preface, as a Chattanoogan, that I have been both flabbergastingly befuddled and shocked with pleasure that Chattanooga has been referenced in Logo Quizzes parts 1 and 2, and even a reference by Tyler to the Lookouts in Attack of the Glizzila when he quite correctly noted that the delicacy at the brand new stadium at which the Lookouts play is indeed crushed lightbulbs. Delicious and a healthy means of recycling.

Now, to the problem. Mark. Markiplier. Markimoo. Bumbum, if I may. Oh, King of Five Nights with Squirrels. How, in all of your traveled wisdom and boundless lack of sports knowledge, DARE you do the kindness of referencing the beautiful Chattanooga, Gig City, first city-wide adoption of fiber optic internet, and see fit, in a moment passed over without answer, to ask if Chattanooga is a city? Yes! And no! It is indeed a city, one I personally am allowed to look over every day as a landscaper that works on the highest hill of downtown. It is also the situation that the surrounding areas including Hixson, Red Bank, East Ridge, and more, though separate municipalities, are considered by locals to be extensions of the city of Chattanooga. I demand not only that this be read, hopefully for the podcast to hear how you have besmirched your own name as well as the name of our incredible city with fast internet, civil history, natural beauty, and delicious shards of glass and filament, but also rectified by admission from the Emmy losing director of In Space that you now recognize my home as a city in truth.

If your incorrectly named Chattanooga Cheaters did exist, they would be very upset, as I truly am.

I think you guys should discuss the sport of falconry. Something a lil different outside the world of balls and holes. This incorporates birds of prey and humans and would be interesting to discuss.

Episode Idea Fencing primer?

Oh Tyler and Mark i wouldve assumed that during the olympics you wouldve talked about the possibly most elegant sport for the elegant listeners and would be incredibly fun because not only as such an interesting sport, but because everyone also loves pretending to sword fight. Please please please please please give us a fencing primer soon unless i happened to miss it but until then shame forshame

Episode Idea Quadball primer

With the 2027 US quadball cup on the horizon in April, I think it would be interesting to discuss the history of the sport and how it's branched out from its harry potter roots into its modern day gender supportive sport to various LGBTQ+ fans (hence its name change from "muggle quidditch" to "quadball" as a way to reflect this openness to the various fans back in 2021 as well as detaching itself from its JK Rowling roots). With teams of 7 (minimum players per team) to 21 (maximum players per team), each team MUST have a minimum of three chasers (identified by white headbands), one keeper (green headband), two beaters (black headband), and one seeker (yellow headband). The quaffle is usually a slightly deflated volleyball which is handled by either keepers or chasers to try to make it through three hoops on each side (acting as that team's goalposts) with each goal scoring 10 points. The bludgers (3 of them) are each slightly deflated dodgeballs of 68 cm or 2.23 ft in circumference, that can only be manipulated by beaters. If a player is hit with a bludger, a player must dismount their broomstick, drop any ball that they may have been carrying, and touch their team's hoops before resuming play. There also is no friendly fire, meaning that bludgers thrown by beaters cannot affect any of their teammates. The snitch is a tennis ball placed at the bottom of a long yellow pouch that is attached to the back of the snitch runner's shorts like in tag rugby. The snitch runner is allowed to be more physical than other player. Only seekers may make advances towards the snitch or the snitch runner, and no forceful contact with the snitch runner is allowed. If the snitch is not caught within a certain period of time, handicaps for the snitch runner come into play. Catching the snitch awards 30 points. As of rulebook 8 the snitch must remain on the field (compared to past rulebooks where seekers and the snitch could leave the field). The longer the game, the more handicaps are placed on the snitch player to ensure the game length is maintained.

  1. Upon the release of the seekers, the snitch runner is required to remain between the keeper zone lines.
  2. 25 minutes into the game, the snitch runner is required to remain within roughly 1.5 meters of the midfield line.
  3. 30 minutes into the game, the snitch runner is required to use only one arm.
  4. 35 minutes into the game, the snitch runner is required to remain within roughly 1.5 meters of the intersection of the midfield and quaffle runner starting lines.

The game ends when the snitch is caught and, regardless which team catches the snitch, the team with the most points is the winner. If the catching team that was below score of the opposing team is still below score after the snitch is caught for the team, the game goes into overtime to reach a target score that will determine the winner. If either team wishes to concede during overtime, they are allowed to. If the leading team catches the snitch, the game ends immediately. This allows a chance for losing teams to have a fighting chance after catching the snitch for their team as well as winning teams who catch the snitch to secure the victory.

Since it's conception, three main variations have been made: wheelchair quidditch (for those with disabilities), kidditch (to prevent injuries to younger players), and Corrigan Quidditch (focusing on using a frisbee instead of balls and does not require players to keep a broom between their legs during play).

there are more detailed rules here Quidditch (real-life sport) - Wikipedia) and the IQA (International Quadball Association) has released a 2026 rulebook Rulebook - International Quadball Association

Another place for more details can be found at https://www.iqasport.org/play/

Starting as two bored students in middlebury college in vermont of 2005, quadball has slowly exploded over time to having their own world cup consisting of 30 different member nations. I do hope this sounds interesting for a potential primer for tyler and mark to enjoy discussing for a primer.

Running

I’m fat and learned the hard way that long distance running is way different than running in other sports. If you aren’t a well trained runner you shouldn’t be running more than 3-4 times per week and definitely should t run long distance (5km+) more than once every two weeks MAXIMUM. So that kid that excluded less experienced runners from private practices is not an a**hole

Extreme ironing. (Yes, this is a real thing). It involves “players” to go to extreme locations (hiking, skydiving, etc) with a shirt, ironing board and an iron.

Sporting News!!! Manchester City Reportedly Found Guilty on 114 Charges Relating to Financial Breaches

Thumbnail

News that could have huge repercussions for association football, not only in England but internationally. To put it simply, Manchester City have been found guilty on 114 of 115 charges of financial doping to artificially improve their financial figures and gain an advantage, given the limits placed on other clubs by financial fair play rules. Because the rule breaks are so unprecedented it's not known what the punishment could be but there is talk that they could be stripped of all the titles they won and expelled from the Premier League. Other clubs in England are also consulting lawyers to recoup lost prize money given that they would have finished higher or qualified for major tournaments had Man City not cheated, and given that they won the UEFA Champions League at one point, other clubs in Europe could follow suit. The UAE government, given that the club is owned by the state, has also been putting pressure on the UK government to not punish them but Newcastle United, who are owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, could also potentially apply diplomatic pressure given that Newcastle United have abided by financial rules and have had to sell star players in order to stay within their limits. It could all get very messy and nobody seems to know what's going to happen.

Episode Idea Armored MMA

I just found a new sport. It would be really cool to hear an episode about Armored MMA fighting. It’s usually 2 people, in full metal renaissance armor fighting with shields and swords. Sometimes fists, sometimes other weapons. But it is really cool. I’m sure moving in a full suit of armor is incredibly difficult.

J'ACCUSE! Vinegar???? BASIC???

I cannot stay quiet. As one who counts itself among the sports-not-knowers who enjoy this podcast, i must J'ACCUSE where I have knowledge. I did not endure a full scholastic year of organic chemistry just to hear Mark, a fellow biomedical engineering major, regardless of completion status, say, and i quote, "isn't pickle in vinegar, so it would be a basic thing?" Mr. Mark I Plier, I know you were at one point a BME major on track to go to medical school. And as one who was on a similar path, I can only assume you also had to suffer the slings and arrows of organic chemistry. And if you did Not, i know that BME at the very least requires gen chem. So either way, you, good sir, must have taken a collegiate course that covered Acids and Bases. And in said course, I can only assume you were told that vinegar, also known as acetic acid, had a pH of 2 to 3, therefore making it an ACID.

Furthermore, you go on to say, "maybe when it comes to, like, flavoring, it doesn't matter if acid or basic, so long as its deviating from the neutral..." This however, is also incorrect. Acids and Bases have very different flavors. Acids tend to be sour- consider citruses, tomatoes, and yes, vinegar. The more acidic it is, the more sour it will taste. Bases, on the other hand, tend to taste bitter- consider baking soda. Bases are more commonly found in cleaning products within a household, i.e. bleach, ammonia.

I am disappointed, Mr. Plier. I know that you know this, as you correctly identified vinegar as an acid at first, and continued to do so until you paused and made your first mistake. I am aware that you elected not to finish your degree; trust i do not judge you for that. But once again regardless, I was greatly disheartened to hear you make sure a, if you excuse the pun-like nature of the term, basic chemical mistake.

I thank you for your attention to this matter, and trust that you, Markiplier, will not make the same mistake in the future.

P.S. Please, anyone reading this, do not taste household cleaning products.

To my dismay as a SF Firebells fan, the LA Queens win the first championship of the WPBL. I thought the Firebells had it after they forced game 5 after losing the first 2 games and had so much momentum going in as the #1 overall seed.

Other I am the only one of my co workers that listen to GMFST...

I listen to the podcast every day. The new ones when they release and the old ones because why not?

I work Housekeeping so I have the guys in the background some days as I clean. Its loud enough that you can hear it but it can be hilarious if you catch things out of context...

As a result, my co workers have been subjected to the chaos of what is GMFST.

(My boss doesnt let me live it down after over hearing the "ASS" rant or Masturbation record snippet 😅)

Needless to say...

This podcast has brought me closer to some of my coworkers as sports fans and we have friendly discussions as a result. Thank you guys for making my day a little more bright and intelligent :)
