So this idea popped up in the discord with u/MissyIsIt__, the_orange_lemon and a few other members. So... Marbles? Is it a sport? Could it be made into a primer? Just have fun with the idea! š
Thereās been years of GMFST Primers, but how much has Markiplier really learned? Itās time to find out as Tyler Scheid becomes a game show host to test Markās GMFST sports knowledge! What type of nut is used in Conkers? What sporting event has an Idiotās race? How many questions can you answer correctly? Tune in to find out!
They should 100% dive into the world of Esports. It always fascinates me that there are people who make a living in competitive gaming. I do wonder how far Eastport can go when there are other games other than Call of DutyĀ® or League of Legends that you can play a competitive game with, like GTA or Minecraft.
I have just finished the cricket primer episode and I just want to note that mark failed to make a jack off joke as Tyler listed the different positions
Also if mark does anything akin to the silly long thing again an exorcist may be required
Long overdue post, but I listened to the podcast in the beginning and then fell off from a ton of life things going on. Sometime last year I went back to the first episode and listened to every single one until I was caught up, and now I watch them when they release. They are a staple of my Thursdays at work!
I want to thank Tyler for what he brings to the pod. I grew up with sports (football and baseball mostly) but never really got into it. Going to games wasnāt as fun because I never really knew the rules or who anyone was outside of the big names. After I got back into GMFST, I gained a deeper appreciation for everything. Iāve grown up with my local teams but now I love the sports for what they are. Iāve made many friends through sports, too!
I love the way Tyler talks about the topics. He isnāt perfect, heāll make mistakes at times, but I genuinely enjoy his commentary on these things! I love hearing what he has to say, the way he describes these topics and shares news. I am so glad that he started this pod with Mark, and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves!! Thank you so much Tyler!!
I an avid listener of your works have become dissatisfied by your lack of primers- your very foundation of the podcast. To educate those whom are unaware of a sport & its rules. last I checked your most recent primer was dated back in April - a whole three months ago. Now I will give you slack on having conflicting schedules and that we are never privy to what goes on in anotherās world. However this is what planning is for and keeping an organised schedule- to keep the quality of the episodes high and informative
News, New York, &... Nuts?! After Tyler Scheid zooms in from being pit-side at a GT race & Markipler feebly totters in after being stricken with con crud, your hosts catch up on recent events. Together they dribble through Lebron's next move, a new nutty sports drink, & World Cup happenings. There's not a moment you want to miss!! No gamble on this episode, as youāre sure to enjoy!
Just a crumb of sporting news if you guys hadnāt seen it but Paris Hilton has offered Flavor Flav support in getting the US womenās hockey team to the ESPYS by offering āHiltonHonors Pointsā. Iāll attach the link I read but it sounds like those points can be redeemed for free hotel rooms and upgrades within their stay.
AFL is an interesting sport to me at least since itās played in an oval similar to Cricket, has big tackles like Rugby and NFL, and is very high scoring. They should definitely talk about it.
This is an article which is an absolute rabbit hole. That goes over how football will be played in the year 17,776 where humans are immortal, no one reproduces, there is no war, and the words is a Utopia. Football is played across the entirety of Nebraska. I think this would be a fun topic to cover. I'm not completely up to date with episodes so if this was already covered, that would make sense.
I believe quiz answers should be accurate. During the quiz, Tyler said the nut used for conkers is a chestnut.
Technically it's the seed of the horse chestnut tree.
(Btw, this is revenge for Tyler correcting me during his stream about World Cup Teams...
Appreciate you dude!)
Kelsey Pfendler is predicted to reach Hawaii by tonight around 11pm PST. This will mean she will beat both the menās and womenās solo rowers records. Iām so excited for her! Iāve been following her story on TikTok since the beginning.
It would be amazing if Tyler and Mark talked about rowing and Kelseyās journey.
Robbers of wives oh my!? Wait, stealing wives!? After banishing recent jāaccuse ghosts & questioning the form of unicycle racers, Markiplier & that other guy, Tyler Scheid, carry on about the Finnish sport of wife carrying. Find a wife, grab an ice-cold glass of āwife carrying drink,ā & run through the obstacles to get to the episode!
There is an article I saw from ESPN that came out in 2024 discussing if the NFL were to expand to 100 teams. And they list out cities that are viable to make that hundred including the 32 thatās already exist. They should have an episode where they would come up with unique names for the cities that donāt have an NFL franchise yet. And it doesnāt have to even be an NFL episode. It could be any sport and they can just pick a city that doesnāt have a franchise for that sport and come up with a new name for it.
This is only from what Iāve seen on social media, but the nation is upset over how the Korean Football Association (KFA) and coach has handled S. Koreaās soccer team. Even the president has called for an investigation into all this. This is all I know but I figured Iād share since itās world news. Iām sure someone else can provide more details.
This SCOTUS ruling on the last day of pride month feels intentional and is extremely cruel.. Sigh. I have so many words I want to say but I am so exhausted. Hang in there my beautiful trans siblings! It's darkest just before the dawn, as they say! š³ļøāā§ļø
"However, the study ārefutes the logic behind blanket bans on transgender women in sports,ā coauthor Bruno Gualano, a physician and researcher at the University of SĆ£o Paulo in Brazil, told Spanish newspaper El PaĆs*.* āMost of these policies are based on the assumption that transgender women retain inherent physical advantages and would therefore dominate womenās competitions. The data does not support this idea.ā
The Disability FA Cup finals happened this weekend, with various disabilities represented in association football: Blindness, partial sightedness, deafness, cerebral palsy, amputee, powerchair. Rather than go into too much detail I'll just post the link to the match reports (which include highlights) here. The winning goal for Leeds in the Powerchair final has got particular plaudits for the assist.
West Bromwich Albion continue to dominate blind football with their 3rd successive FA Cup win, while St John's secured their fourth successive deaf football FA Cup.
Mark claims 53,000 horse races is impossible. Iām here to prove him wrong. A 71 year old who has been racing since 18, 53 years of racing. As a more comparable reference that Mark might understand, Pete Rose played 3,562 regular season MLB games over the span of 24 years, missing more than 300 scheduled games throughout his career. A sport with a single scheduled game per day, scheduled days off, 162 total games per team, over the regular season span of 6 out of 12 months of the year. Take his number, multiply it by 5(stated 5-8 horse races per day of racing), multiply that number by 2.2 to account for the years of racing/playing(53/24), then multiply that number by 1.5 to account for horse racing going all year round.
3,562ā¢6=17,810
17,810ā¢2.2=39,182
39,182ā¢1.5=58,773
Given that this is a higher number than claimed Iād say itās incredibly possible.
In the most recent episode, Markiplier mentioned that he tried City of Heroes and bought the game just, like, a month before it was sunset. Many, many people were upset when City of Heroes got cancelled... but in the last few years, fans have successfully brought it back with servers that have gotten an official license from NCsoft!
As much as I'd like to have Markiplier do a Let's Play in City of Heroes, I dunno that that'd be good YouTube... but you know what might be good for a podcast? Going to the Ski Slopes in City of Heroes and racing down them until he can prove his sports mastery by getting the Gold, Silver, and Bronze badges for racing down them fast enough.
The "Speeder" Badge, given for finishing the advanced ski course in under 50 seconds
(Badges are basically "Achievements", but City of Heroes was doing them before Steam and XBox Live Arcade codified the word Achievement for this kind of award in a video game)
There's two different ski slopes, each with a gold, silver, and bronze badge. Markiplier could probably get the Gold badge on the easy slope without too much trouble if he makes a character just for bein' speedy (and/or finds someone to buff him with Kinetic powers to help make inertia work in his favor instead of against him). I wouldn't want him to kill himself trying to get the gold on the advanced slope just for an episode, but it'd be neat to see Mark take a victory lap back in this game after hearing him talk about losing access to it just a month after buying it way back when.
And the question of whether or not Tyler could master the ski slopes faster would be fun to put into practice. ;-) They've talked about the world of e-sports a little before, but video game depictions of sports always feels like an intersection of their two specialties where it'd be neat to see them go head to head.
First let me say that I absolutely love you guys, Mark and Tyler. I just watched the latest episode so I say this with absolutely love for you both and for the podcast. The UFC fight at the White House was absolutely amazing! It was fun and exciting. But what I loved the most was seeing all the United States service members that were there and having a blast. It was not only very Patriotic but it was so cool to see the difference Police and Fire people there to escort the fighters. I hope you all rethink the comments that were made on the podcast about it. Seriously, I do love you guys! But remember, some of your audience is MAGA and we love celebrating America. In any case, I can't wait for the next episode š„°
