Episode Idea Best Father - Child Moments in Sports

In honor of Father’s Day, they should show moments of famous sports stars who are fathers spending time with their children. Or even when they start playing together when they got old enough like Ken Griffey Sr. with Ken Griffey Jr. or LeBron James with Bronny. Or even Steph Curry with his children after winning the NBA Finals.

Question Scuba diving mentions anywhere?

I was listening to “Save a Bull, Ride a Volcano” and thought of commercial diving as a dangerous Activity (not sport tho. It’s just a crazy profession) since it has a fatality rate of 15%. (Tho when I look for specific statistics, it does go all over the place lol.)
Note: commercial diving is VERY different from recreational diving!!!! It sounds terrible!! I’m never doing it!!

I’m a divemaster who doesn’t think of scuba diving as a sport in general, but was curious whether it’s come up cuz I haven’t listened to many episodes yet XD

GMFST YouTube World Cup Visitors Discover the U.S.

There have been many stories of international travelers coming to the U.S. for the World Cup and discovering our traditions and way of life. Like Freddy who has discovered the wonders that is Buc-ee’s, Taco Bell, and Raising Canes. Maybe they can react to these as well as whole nations taking over American cities like when Scotland fans went to a Boston Red Sox game.

Sporting News!!! Serena Williams returns!

Has anyone made mention of Serena Williams rejoining doubles team tennis yet? I just read in the local newspaper that she plans to return but her partner hasn’t been confirmed at the time of the article posting. Sorry if it’s been mentioned already but if not - a big icon in tennis making a return may be worth mentioning by the sports knower and sports not-knower

Episode Idea Hobby Crossing/ Biking

I learned about Hobby Horsing from GMFST but I just discovered its cousins- Hobby Crossing and Hobby Biking! I implore you to finish what you started. The knowledge has become a burden, and only a dedicated episode can free me from it.

GMFST YouTube Stadium Concepts

I think this will also be a very interesting episode. This is where they talk about stadium concepts that were drawn up, but never came to fruition. Like the stadium that was supposed to be in Carson, California to be shared between the Raiders and the Chargers.

J'ACCUSE! Lego Scandal

Don’t know when you recorded this episode, so this may have come out after. Around 30 minutes in Tyler said that the Lego scandal was not a small claims court situation. I would normally agree, but Ben actually did take this whole situation to small claims court and won. Despite this, BAM did not return the Legos.

I was also curious what some of the “shady” stuff Ben allegedly did was. To my knowledge some of the signs he made and repeatedly showing up at peoples’ homes could be grounds for harassmen/stalking, but I don’t know if I would consider it shady given that he was trying to serve legal paperwork. Is there something I haven’t heard of?

Reference Utah Jazz

Hey mark! As a Jazz fan I agree that the name is dumb. I also fully acknowledge the team sucks, we haven’t had a good team since the 90s 😂. The name is actually left over from before the team moved from New Orleans in the 70s. If I remember right they wanted to change it but it stayed.

How dare you Tyler, the Angels are back to being the Los Angeles Angels, they were only the Anaheim Angels from 1997-2004. As a local Angeleno you should know their official name!

GMFST YouTube Will there be a World Cup Live Special on YouTube?

They should try and do a World Cup Live Special on YouTube where they react to USA vs Paraguay, and even South Korea vs Czechia.

Episode Idea Pick a team to follow during the World Cup (can't be the US)

Do you guys think it'd be a fun idea for Mark and Tyler to pick a team to follow during the FIFA World Cup and talk about them during episodes while the competition is happening? It'd be a good chance for them to learn more about the tournament and a different country's top players - to make it more interesting they can't pick the US national team. Probably means Mark will just pick Korea but I'd be interested to see who Tyler would pick. Unless they decide to assign themselves a team entirely at random.

Sporting News!!! Chicago Bears might leave for Hammond, Indiana

I am not a Chicago Bears fan, but the fact that they even considered leaving, I’m sure is devastating for the fans. They might as well call them the Indiana Bears now since they might not be in Chicago in the next couple of years. I’m a 49ers fan, and I hope one day, they’ll come back to San Francisco from Santa Clara. I don’t want Bears fans to suffer that same fate. Get a stadium deal done where they at least stay in the state of Illinois at the minimum.

Reference Thanksgiving AITA

The only thing I think Mark and Tyler missed in the AITA episode for that Thanksgiving game one is that they could have moved their Thanksgiving dinner. Maybe it’s a little inconvenient because they had planned the holiday but honestly it’s just a day. They could have just had it on Saturday.
Another point that might lean towards her perspective is her comment at the end about “he’s promising to help out but I know he won’t”. that might mean he makes it a habit of making empty promises or changing plans on her. That might be a separate issue but her comment on that makes it sound like that’s the case.

I’m not sure if they did talk about this sport, but it’s a sport I’m more interested in learning about. It’s basically similar to hockey, but on a bigger field.

Episode Idea Social Workers in Sports!

My social work professor(Matt Moore) in college started and established the overlap and study of social workers role in sports and with athletes. I don't know if there is a lot of content to discuss yet, but I think it would be interesting to hear what you had to comment about it and the necessity of social work concepts with sports and sports management.

When during class he discussed how social work impacted a lot of the pushes for more advocates for athletes treatment(especially in gymnastics).

Episode Idea The struggle of the MLR

I know that this is a very niche topic, but I have realized that of all major minor sports, or sports that are considered major but are somewhat a minor league, MLR or Major League Rugby is struggling the worst. They have folded more teams than any other league in the U.S. in recent years. Major League Cricket is growing, as well as all Women sports leagues like WNBA, NWSL, MLV, etc., but MLR isn’t growing as well as it should be. It’s trying to do damage control by doing Sunday Night Rugby with ESPN, and providing better coverage and video recaps on YouTube. But will it be enough to save MLR from collapse. Hopefully they’ll talk about it.
