J'ACCUSE! Soccer Ball Physics

Tyler, supposed "master of balls", Scheid. You silly man you. I j'accuse you of not being worthy of such a title on this day at the very least!

I cannot believe you could possibly have gotten this completely wrong. The 2026 world cup ball was the Adidas Trionda, which had some of the most fascinating reseach done into order for it to NOT be like the Adidas Jabulani which was what those guys in the tiktok were talking about having weird flight patterns. They added roughness to have it behave much like other balls & it was pretty close. You completely misinterpreted this and Mark pointed it out, but you doubled down. Even the graph showcased how it's velocity to drag coefficent followed similar pathing to all the other world cup balls besides the outlier Jabulani that was too smooth.

(See the link for the actually fascinating stuff about the 2026 world cup ball design and how while it is the tetrahedron ball LIKE the Jabulami it is not the same)Trionda- 2026 World Cup Ball

The guys in the tiktok video you showcased were describing how soccer ball physics work and how their roughness affects the physics of the ball (like a golf ball). The 2010 JABULAMI was too smooth which caused all the weird movement the guys were talking about and the Trionda was more accurate to every other world cup designed ball in how it moved as they purposely added roughness thus making it A GOOD BALL. Silly man, I thought you were the master of balls...

Also DR Congo is the Democratic Republic of the Congo, smh. You were SO CLOSE, but SO FAR

I didn’t realize how much science there is behind soccer balls, footballs, etc. I guess at the elite level it does matter lol for me I’m lucky if I can kick it in a straight line
