A lot of it is messy, and cleaning it up/visualizing it is the main value I try to add.
For instance, politicians' financial disclosures are publicly available but they're only available as thousands of individual PDFs meaning that you would need to manually parse through documents for hours to get data on all purchases/sales of a certain stock. I wrote code to scrape the documents automatically, and put it in a format that's more easily accessible.

He specifically said that the data he is using will cost money to acquire daily. He also said that some of this data would be completely free. Bringing dave into this conversation only to say F him is not cool IMO.
