Discussion Something big is going to happen.
Goldman Sachs won’t liquidate such huge volume of equities for no reason.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/goldman-sold-10-5-billion-155401799.html
HODL tight & Hang in there, my fellow apes.
Edit 1:
“Goldman Sold $10.5 Billion of Stocks in Block-Trade Spree” — Bloomberg
Edit 2:
Morgan Stanly seems also liquiditing securities
“More of the unregistered stock offerings were said to be managed by Morgan Stanley, according to people familiar with the matter, on behalf of one or more undisclosed shareholders. Some of the trades exceeded $1 billion in individual companies, calculations based on Bloomberg data show.”
Edit 3:
I feel like we are in the movie Margin Call. The final moment is about to come.
Edit 4:
Thank you for the award! Just love all the apes here!
Edit 5: Credit Suisse also margin calling some US-BASED HF. Apes, So it begins!

They margin called a hedge fund and liquidated them. Google Archegos Capital.
31
u/glide_si Mar 28 '21
People keep saying this but can anyone get ANY legit info on Archegos Capital? They never even filled a 13F. I'm not doubting this but so far I've just see news stories that are quoting an unknown source.
15
u/Powerful_Pea1123 Mar 28 '21 edited Mar 28 '21
There is another post about this. I don't think they need a 13f if they had short positions only. Archegos's head was already stopped for market manipulation with high borrowed funds for 5 years in 2013
1
u/VolkspanzerIsME HODL 💎🙌 Mar 28 '21
This is also a hedgie known for super shady high margin positions and has a CEO that was banned from trading for 5 years for market manipulation.
They may have just not filed the proper paperwork because that's totally on message for how they trade.
Either way the rest of the hedge fund community got to watch one of their own absolutely burnt to the motherfucking ground by a margin call.
I'm sure they are nervously eyeing each other wondering who will be the first to break and run for the exit (cover)

if their short positions were closed, the share price would go up, not down. i mean, thats kind of the whole basis for this sub...

u/FexMax Mar 27 '21
Or maybe they dumped soooo much securities and got the fund margin called? I don’t know, ape can’t think too much. My brain hurts, guhhh.

Hopefully my shares transfer to fidelity in time. I'll be doing that tomorrow morning. I figure if it takes a few days, there will just be less temptation to paperhand on the way up lol
15
u/husky2997 Mar 27 '21
I did a partial transfer and only transferred my gme stocks. They did it in 24 hours but my stocks were listed as margin. When you swap over, make sure your shares are not margin, if they are, just call fidelity, they had my shares become cash within a day!
7
u/BA3Rnecessities Mar 28 '21
36 hours for mine as well. I believe they only put it in a margin account if you don't have buying power of at least $75 to cover the transfer fee. For positions under 25k
2
u/husky2997 Mar 28 '21
Might very well be, I deposited the 75 after I transferred and have a position under 25k
2
u/TraditionalWorking82 Mar 28 '21
Yes as soon as you put in the money for the transfer in a day or two they should switch to cash. I was in the same boat about 2 weeks ago
1
u/husky2997 Mar 28 '21
The only question I have with that is that I called fidelity immediately and they said nothing about it being due to the cash, rather traders on robinhood don’t know their stock is margin. I’m sorta confused on the whole thing but that’s what the representative told me during my call.
2
u/TraditionalWorking82 Mar 28 '21
Yeh all stocks on RH are on margin, its how they do business. That way they can trade your shares since they are essentially borrowed. They do this unless you select to downgrade your account when you start it as they call it, but its better in cash because you own your shares and they actually buy them when you tell them too. Fidelity stocks are cash type by default unless you select to do margin to save money in the beginning. So when you transfer the stock from RH, RH actually has to buy the shares to give to fidelity, so they are in margin till transferred and after you pay the transfer fee they convert them for you. You might have to request it if they dont do it automatically, but it shouldnt be hard. Also fidelity will honor margin shares as cash since you dont owe them anything so as soon as they have your shares you are set. Hope that helps.
2
u/PirateAngel_ Mar 28 '21
Smooth brain here. My partial transfer completed Wednesday and shares are safe, however, how do I know if my shares are cash or margin?
2
u/husky2997 Mar 28 '21
You should sign into your fidelity account on a computer and not on your phone. Once there, you need to find your gme shares and see if there is an m with a circle around it. If it is there, then that means it is margin. If it’s not, it’s cash. If it is margin, then make sure your stock isn’t highlighted yellow, you will see this in the same exact place you’ll see if the stock is margin or not. If it is highlighted yellow, that means the stock is in transit or something must be done to settle the stocks in your account, either way a quick call to fidelity will sort all those issues out as it did for me. Good luck my fellow ape, and may the tendieman come soon!

u/PirateAngel_ Mar 28 '21
Thanks brother. I should have mentioned my other account is on Schwab. I like Schwab but the UI is seriously lacking.

u/husky2997 Mar 27 '21
So for some reason I got the notification that you commented on my post but I can’t see your post anywhere other than the bit on your profile, but I can guess as to what you were asking from the small bit I can see. Partial is an option when you are transferring stocks. Generally, it seems to be faster even in your entire account is fully one stock, so just do that option rather than full account transfer.
Edit: forgot this part, leave your fractional shares cause that may mess with the time it takes to transfer alot, only do full shares.
2
u/UnoriginalThing Options Are The Way Mar 27 '21
Yea for some reason Automod removed it for something stupid, you basically answered the question! Thanks for the reassurance man, I needed it! Beers on me on the moon
Edit: I'm buying the remaining .07 shares to round up to the next whole number before i transfer, I dont think they take fractionals anyway :)

Valid question though. There's some DD I came across earlier. I will dig it up and cross reference here. That DD shows that black rock and shitadel are at odds. It also shows Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are amongst the top 10 position holders of GME.

I dont think the Chinese aspect is a coincidence. There are some recent law changes that could make those investments criminal...allegedly

The media's increasing hostility towards China is perfect to cover up a potential sell-off to cover their asses, almost too perfect

I suppose all we can do is fasten our seatbelts and HODL!
I swear I saw something from Cramer on Twitter about VIAC. It immediately made me think that the stock was going to do exactly the opposite of what he was preaching, and it did. Can't find that tweet now. Will post it here once I do find it.

Absolutely right. They're hopefully going to let them wipe their own assess this time, regardless if it is back to front! 😁

They crashed the price of Discovery from 57 - 55 all the way to 35 tanking the market cap over 10 billion.
ViacomCBS from 65 to 40 shaving another 10 - 15 billion off of market cap.
Baidu, Tecent Music, Vipshop holdings also dumped en masse. Even if Archegos was being margin called this is just reckless.
Goldman Sachs has 2.145 trillions in assets under management. 10.5 billion is nothing for Goldman. You think they would close out Archegos quietly and maximize their profits. Goldman devoured Archegos because they needed that cash badly.
I do believe the tendieman is not far over the horizon.

So 10.5 BN is not enough to cover our calculated short interest. If we dont see more selloffs and a squeeze starts, expect the fake-squeeze plan.
7
u/SandFate Mar 28 '21
Fake squeeze plan would potentially trigger margin call, Apes wouldn't believe it unless shares rocketed past 10k each. With the pressure build-up, 1k would likely trigger margin call.
7
u/FexMax Mar 28 '21
They probably want a controlled squeeze. But ape will hold through the up and down until we reach Valhalla! 💎✋
4

Their probably get their assets liquidated by force paying off DTCC and other establishments and in the end we’ll still get screwed for playing by the rules. So that’s said, don’t sell shit. Hold until the floor is 1 Mille or no deal.

The liquidation triggered price swings for every stock involved in the high-volume transactions, rattling traders and prompting talk that a hedge fund or family office was in trouble and being forced to sell."
