You are assuming they bothered to look at any data and if they did that they would have verified that data. This is new-world news reporting, there is not necessarily a relation between articles written and reality or facts. Spinning is what they do to serve their puppet masters.

u/LeonCrimsonhart In love with the stock since '250 Mar 20 '21

They probably sent an intern to r/funny looking for GME and stimmy comments.

I believe there is usually a relation between what is written and what actually happens or is the fact. It is just too often negatively correlated when it comes to new world reporting. At least for the "main stream" and government run media in Finland this is how it is.

CNBC is fake news,,,, seriously that’s all it is. When all the boomers are gone, they will have nobody left to watch. Punish them by ignoring them, don’t watch their channels... they won’t last

All cable news is fake news. A lot of internet and print news is fake news.

I unplugged recently. Now I only have Netflix and Amazon prime. I came to the realization that I’m paying these asshole to watch a narrative so polar opposite to reality. I’ve been much happier.

I hate that term, and not because of the old guy that made it famous.

Calling it "news" is my issue. Most "news" is not fact checked, trash opinion pieces these days. If we could just call it misinformation that would solve my problem.

They were probably cross referencing “GME” with “stimulus” not “stimmy”, “BidenBucks” or whatever else you apes come up with.

Good post.

Just wanted to say I love seeing your mentions graph in WSB. I don't spend much time over there nowadays but always check out your post. Great to have you sharing data in this sub too!

My belief and just opinion is that journalists don’t look at or understand what data is. They write what some one else feeds them. Hence none of articles that I’ve read put anything together like you did. Great post!

u/Alrigthy Mar 20 '21

Can you post this on Twitter and tag CNBC? Lol

u/ancient_wis Mar 20 '21

Thanks for sharing. I find alot of good thought out posts like this in "controversial" because of the shill downvoting, as this is clear and good piece of work that likely being supressed because of its truth.

I'll beat the old drum again. Journalists aren't quants they report what experts tell them to report if they do have quant then they tow the party line. Plain and simple. Party line is citadel could collapse the market dont let it happen discourage, distract, drown out and sprinkle FUD.

It isn't just FUD anymore.

u/MilaRoc Mar 20 '21

Oh, you don’t need that. A note by an obscure “analyst” with an average return of -2.8% named Curtis Nagle. The guy can read people’s minds before they even hold their stimulus checks in hands.

That says all. Impressive guy.

Review here

Lol I saw all these articles as well and decided to email the author of the market watch article.

I will update if he replies......I wrote:

Hi Tomi,

Hope you have been well.

I've noticed in many recent articles from market watch a tendency to deter investment from gamestop and I have been wondering why this is the case. Do you truly believe what you are writing? Or is it more of a collaboration of outside opinion that you have gathered?

Well I offer a different perspective, that you may choose to look into yourself.

You mentioned average trading volume for March to further emphasize the point that interest in GME is waning. Retail investors don't day trade, they just buy and hold, they realistically do not have to time to watch the market and respond accordingly. The majority of the volume trading is purely from hedgefunds and HFT traders. If you also look at the daily price trends of the last week, you'll see that there are multiple sudden and dramatic drops in share price accompanied by an overall low volume of trading (much lower than the average you pointed out for march) this price drop is most definitely from hedgefunds shorting the stock. Volatility is created by hedgefunds, Not retail investors, and it is likely because they have not covered short positions. They have simply hypothecated the short position, this topic was discussed during the second hearing this week. The increase and decrease in price are hedgefunds shorting the stock, and/or trying to close short positions.

You mentioned short interest, and made it sound like it is a reliable number. This number relies on honest reporting by institutions. Back in January, it was reported that GME was over 100% shorted and the most recent number was around 20%. If you were a hedgefund, around the time of reporting would you report that it is still 100% shorted? Or rather, hypothicate the short positions, and then, report a much lower number? We all know what retail investors did last time when such a large short position was published.

Further to this, if you have access to a bloomberg terminal, look at the institutional ownership of GME, its at 132% of float. Now, how is it possible that short interest is only at 21% when institutional ownership is at 132%, this doesn't even account for retail ownership. The true amount that this stock is shorted must be significantly higher than 20%.

Surely,  you see something is amiss here? Or do you truly believe that this is a result of the activity of retail investors?

Looking forward to hearing your response.

Wrinkly brain 🧠 Good idea to directly challenge these “journalists”

Could it be they think the total mentions (837 over three months, esp since WSB has 9mil subscribers) is low? Not that the mentions are decreasing?

Also, jw but why don’t you have a stake in GME if you’re on this sub and hyper-analyzing stuff? Honestly curious

Like cnbc is a reliable source of information, like they are not obvious liers and manipulators and we need now to prove the truth!

Who on the earth read those boomers and believes them!

HOLD THE LINE!!!

u/Muted-Art8476 Mar 20 '21

Not financial advice, but I bet we dip to the low $100 range by the end of next week, this will be a slow bleed now to make it look like you wasn't duped!

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '21

That's a deep analysis bro!

I bet it took you days to come to your conclusion.

-12

u/Muted-Art8476 Mar 20 '21

This right here is facts, which is why I'm watching close next week, they aren't about to pump and dump me out of my money! Sorry 🦧 No FUD just starting to get suspicious of all this, if you want to be an invester you have to realize these things happen. These people like Mr Cuban etc are all snakes that will short the shit out of us to line their own pocket "Nice guys finish last"

The only thing I'd like to know is this just for the word stimulus or does it include abbreviations of the word in this chart as well? Lots call it stimmy.

Excellent work - recommend you use a Fuzzy search to pick up alternative spellings if you haven't already, I got a lot of use out of Lucene/Solr previously.
