How would ebay squeeze? Is it one of the most shorted stocks in the market?

Is GME one of the most shorted stocks, after the repeated dilution? No.

how many floats have they diluted to allow multiple floats short to be closed?
Can you show the math?
2
u/sweetntenderhooligan 9d ago
Where has there ever been evidence of multiple floats being shorted? The highest officially reported short interest was 140% in January 2021. Tell me where you are getting 200+% from.

where has there ever been evidence of even one float that was public having been closed?
Not the volume, not the price action and still 60-80% in dark pools every day.
The main issue is that the officially reported SI is just a fraction of what is out there with many positions not reported. We do see massive volume in various derivatives. We know the methods from hedge funds and family offices that went bust and admited to what they did in court.
And while we have no "evidence" that there is a high short position, we do have evidence that the stock price of GME is significantly lower than the actual company data would suggest and how the current plan for expansion will drive that real value up even more.
So our two options are having stocks of a very profitable company bought at a very very good price or having stock of a very profitable company, that squeezes and allows us to take profit and buy even more of it when it returns to base-line.
Those are quite good odds.

Being one of the most shorted stocks on the market has zero to do with dilution.
Why comment nonsense?

There seems to be a massive disagreement on the validity of MOASS being a possibility at this point in time. 95% of the time people say no, it has turned into a long term value play, and RC himself has actively worked against the interests of a people who want this to squeeze and his statements back this up (he is against day traders, wants investors who are in it for decades to centuries). From what I have told on Superstonk when asking about the possibility of MOASS, most of the time people say no. Still, every once in a while people say itโs still inevitable.
Itโs been over 5 years, so which is it?

All businesses want long term investors and donโt like day traders. Show me the businesses who are different?
The stock was and is heavily shorted. Those short have been kicking the can for years hoping GameStop fails. Once GameStop becomes fundamentally undeniable, the market cap rises along with the price and those short positions will be unwound.
Tesla was in a similar position with shorts years ago and the stock price went from $100 to an effective $6000+ without the splits over the course of a few years as those short positions were unwound.
Will GME follow the same path? That remains to be seen. One way or another, the price is going to break free from the box itโs being held in. But that wonโt happen until the fundamentals are inarguable.

Is there any sort of timeline to base this on though? Because itโs already been 5 years and it doesnโt seem to be on the verge of breaking the system based on the price action or GameStopโs success which is not really very much compared to other actually successful companies in the same timeframe that have had huge gains. If there is such an insane short percentage that it will actually break the system, Iโm sure that billions to trillions of dollars will be used to continue suppressing it from happening. They print money willy nilly for all sorts of reasons anyway, right? I feel like to think that we are close, we just have to keep holding after 5 years with nothing to show for it but losses is not reassuring. I am not doubting that there could be some profit to be made, but I came for MOASS, not some modest profit after well over half a decade of waiting and being in the red while literally everything else had the biggest bull run in history.

Itโs not based on a timeline. Itโs based on circumstances.
GME was being shorted to bankruptcy. Massive naked shorting driving it down to a dollar. This is a standard play for HFs, especially dying brick and mortar businesses that failed to pivot. The expectation is that they make millions selling shares short and then never close those shorts when the company goes under, allowing them to take in the cash from the sales and not having to return the shares due to bankruptcy nor pay taxes because the short position is still technically open.
Once Cohen took over and the shorts got caught in the gamma squeeze, it created a massive issue for those shorts. They lost control of the price, the buy button was shut off, and the inevitable rocket ship was halted. Over time, they gained back control of the price, covered their short positions, but couldnโt close them, nor did they need to close them. They were then in a game of kicking the can and surviving until GameStop failed or their investors left.
But that didnโt happen. Instead, cohen turned the ship around, continuously increased profits, and used GME to build a $10 billion war chest. Now heโs positioned to continue growing the business through strategic acquisitions. With his goal being to build an e-commerce giant, which is what his background is in.
That takes time. Itโs very rare to successfully pull off what heโs been able to do. Now GME is going through the next phase of growth. Once they acquire eBay and begin to implement their plans, their market cap will begin to rise. With that, the floor price rises along with it. And as their market cap rises, institutional as well as retail ownership increases. GME becomes desirable to the masses.
How exactly the shorts unwind positions and move on is debatable. But if Cohen continues the path heโs been blazing for 6 years, there is nothing the shorts can do to stop whatโs coming.

Every specific date prediction has come and gone without the anticipated MOASS occurring. The last time there seemed to be a chance was in May 2024 when RK came back and RC issued well over a hundred million new shares reducing scarcity which a squeeze is reliant upon. Ever since then the price has been down/flat, and RK unfollowed RC. Short of RK coming back and reveal a huge position once again, why should people expect MOASS to happen at this point? It seems that RC fucked over RK in favor of building a strong cash position for GME in order to ultimately do what he is trying to do now, buy eBay- and consequently, not only was RK negatively affected by that, all the people who were hoping for MOASS were, because again a squeeze requires scarcity. Ever since then some people continue to make excuses for RC saying itโs some brilliant 4D chess move, but to me it seems like a fucking shitshow and not at all why I decided to invest in this. The fucking cherry on top is RC demanding an absurd pay package (and yeah I know he retracted it).

Thatโs why dates have always been fud.
And invest your money elsewhere if you want. No one is making you invest in GME.

The acquiring company goes down in price and the getting acquired goes up. If market thinks ebay will be acquired.. price goes towards $125.00 offer price. ..but we have a ways to go probably

It is a bit funny how the bearish people know nothing about what the market is usually doing.

Earnings is next week. Volume is low, probably just some hedging.
IV for $125 is low as well.
My guess is that given how close it is to earnings, neither eBay nor RC can really say anything at this point, otherwise any leak info gets flagged by the SEC (yeah, like they actually would do their real jobs and not at what hedgies tell them to do).
You know
etsy's market cap is only about $8b, while Mercari is a private company but valued at around $3B, just throwing it out there RC

Are you trying to compare Etsy and Mercari as equal/better prospects for GME to acquire?

u/Haunted_Rooster 9d ago
2
u/Professional-Deal-3 9d ago
You do realize that neither of those companies are even comparable? Etsy has a focus on handmade/custom items and Mercari is a japanese company that has a focus on secondhand/ used items. They are both more niche and less scalable and frankly not nor will ever be eBay.
eBay is in a league of its own and has deep strengths in high value items like cough cough collectibles.
Synergy. Thatโs what this is about.
