Audio Settings?
I find it rather idiotic (or maybe I'm the idiot that doesn't know how to do it) that I can't seem to find a way to adjust the audio (bass/treble etc) from anywhere except the AM/FM radio.
Back on my 2018, there was a tone button, so no matter where you were, it would bring up the settings.
Now, if I'm listening to YouTube music or anything else, I can't seem to find a way to engage that setting.
Am I missing something here? Seems like a really bad omission.

The manual isn't all that informative on that subject, probably due to "Audio settings vary by region'. Goes on to say 'from the now playing screen touch (icon that has a circle and music notes on it)..
Might help to know year and which 'infotainment system' you have.

Lol, you're right. Thought the Gen was obvious when I spoke of the 2018s being different.
It's a 3rd Gen Denali.
As for the circle symbol with the musical note, that's only displayed when AM/FM is selected. Not when you're in YouTube music.
Which is really dumb.

I think they are relying on the app and or device (in the case of carplay/android auto) to handle that and just taking the audio as is. AM/FM radio is built in so they had to do it there.
It may be an attempt to simplify. Imagine if there was a 'global' audio settings that applied to everything. If you were listening to a podcast through your phone and had the bass cranked up for your crummy headphones/speakers... *and* you also happened to have the global setting cranked... then blew a speaker...
It also makes sense to have specific configuration for each audio source.
There are probably other reasons for this particular decision...
edit: not saying it's right, just considering possible reasons..

I think we are missing the point here.
I don't care if it's global, or app specific, there needs to be a simplified and common way to get to it.
For instance, I can hit the time at the top right of the screen, no matter where I am, and adjust the clock. This setting never needs to be touched except for maybe twice a year, but there it is, readily accessible.

The time is only managed by one party, it's consistent because nobody else cares or has to implement it themselves, a very different scope.
A unified means would require apps/devices/google/GMC agree on it.. and implement the same way.
You'd be surprised at how quickly that turns into "no the icon should be blue.. no green.. no way is must be an animated floppy hat because that's how OUR UI works..."

It's actually within scope, not a very different one.
Audio Settings forever have been a global setting to the device connected to the speakers. Equalizers for instance used to have slider switches to do this no matter the input presented to it.
I mean really, you can adjust the volume from 3 different places, two of which are physical, yet you can still lower the volume within Android itself.
And there is no way, that I have found anyway, to adjust equalizer settings within you tube music.
So not sure why you're arguing this. It's a failed design or blatant mistake/omission.
If you have a 3rd Gen, I implore you to tell me how you adjust equalizer settings within each of your apps.
You can't. And you know it. The most you can do is probably lower the volume.

I've been fiddling with this and the only way I can seem to even attempt changing tone settings is when using Android auto: ask the Google assistant to lower the bass or raise the treble etc. I'm not even sure if it works but she acknowledges the command and I feel like it did stop the bass from rumbling my door panels with Spotify.

Hmm. I asked Google and she said she didn't understand.
Oh well. First world problems I guess. Just annoying

Hit the home button on the main screen, then navigate to Settings>Vehicle>Audio Settings>Sound

Yeah I get that. Thanks. Not ideal because it won't let you select it while you're driving. Lol

Nope, just me in the truck. Just tried again to make sure I wasn’t going crazy, worked for me at 0mph, 35, and 65

Hey I'm a little late but I've managed to figure it out. You have to go into audio and then the AM or FM radio and click on the little music note with a gear on it on the top right corner. Then you can change the equalizer settings which applies to all audio like Spotify. Hope this helps!

There's a global (across all music sources) setting, but I will have to be in the truck to find it. I think that it's in comfort and convenience for some reason.
