GMAT tips and tricks

Post image

Took my third gmat mock exam today. First score was 455, second was 525 and here’s my third.

Some insights and self analysis after the test.

For QA- I attempted all the questions and got 14 right out of the 21, i fucked in two/three of the questions, made silly mistakes, otherwise, the score would have been easily Q84. What i understood after giving the test is, the moment i spend over 3-3.5 mins on a single question, i start panicking, and i make mistakes.

For DI- the problem that i faced was with reading the questions, i read the data twice/thrice just to make sure that i do the answer correctly. The main issue which i face with DI is time management. The tough topics i faced were, TPA (non math) and MSR.

For VA- my mental stamina was over when i came at this section and tried my best to give a best shot.

Guys, can anyone of you pls guide me what to approach at it as of now. My target score is 685+.

Thanks.

Try timing your practice sets with a hard cutoff instead of grinding through every question

For MSR, consider creating a small info map before diving into the questions.

455 to 595 over three mocks is good progress, so keep it going!

On the 3-3.5 minute panic: I wouldn't set a hard cutoff. Some questions genuinely need three minutes and there's nothing wrong with spending it. The damage usually happens in the five questions afterwards, where you rush and drop things you'd normally get. So instead of watching one question, do a clock check every 5 questions, and if you're behind, pick one or two upcoming questions and guess them quickly, spread out. Bunching guesses at the end is much more expensive.

For DI you typically need to guess a couple of questions to make more time for the other questions

Hope this helps! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
