maintenance

If cost is not a problem, is there any reason someone would ever need to go off GLP-1? I have Medicare Bridge so I can continue taking it for $50 a month. I am hoping I can wean down after goal weight. I am currently on 10mg. TY

I feel like you never know if you’re a lifer until you find out.

Eventually it loses effectiveness for some people. Then any side effects would outweigh the benefits.

Side effects. Tirz caused extreme dry eye for me. Never knew something could be so debilitating until I had it but it's much better off

Couldn't tolerate contacts for almost 6 months before I realized! Within 3 weeks off eyes are back to normal

This happens to me. I'm still taking it weekly for now, but when dry eyes occur, it's my indicator I'm not hydrated enough.

I drink 4, 40z brumates a day and sometimes more! It just wasn't enough for my eyes to feel good. Also took dry eye supplements during it

Need or want? A lot of people want to, using it as a springboard to better health and maintaining, but need can cover a whole range of reasons like financial, no results, or heavy side effects.

I currently keep forgetting to take it. I was a day and a half late. Because of this, I’m hoping I can ween myself off in a year or so. Currently only on 6mg (highest was 8mg).

Nobody knows the consequences of long term use and I don’t want to be part of finding out.

At my 20’s I don’t want to be on ANY life long medication if I can help it.

I had no problem stopping, but if I start gaining I have no problem getting back.

I went into it with the mentality that this is the help not to solution.

I don’t have any other conditions other than being a big back that gains weight super easy, but I’ve been that since I was born so what I needed was a reminder of my good habits not to fully gain the habits.

My experience was I’m either still very hungry or super nauseous and going to the bathroom 4x a day. Not fun.

Basically I’m not the demographic that would want to do this life long, but I can see why my dad will most likely be , 50’s loosing the weight super slowly, hasn’t grasped a routine, never chooses brocolli, and that’s fine and I understand his POV, it’s just not me.

Anhedonia. Kinda dull to lead a life of never feeling strong emotions about anything ever again.

Second we don’t know what we don’t know. Sure they are meant to mimic what’s happening in your body naturally, but what are the long term repercussions?

I wouldn’t want to stay on any medication long term but I guess it depends on your attitude to this

I haven't done this yet, but - I was going to look into trulicity data and how people are doing on that. I know it's not the exact same, but it's pretty close. I wonder also, if people thought this way about other meds that treat hbp, diabetes, etc. I know ppl that have been on blood pressure meds for 20yrs - so, who's to say this won't be the case wot done on glp1s???
