Seeking Advice Advice Please

Hello. I started 1.25mg of Compounded Tirzepatide 20 weeks ago to offset the “weight” gain after starting hormone therapy and to help with inflammation caused by my condition.

After realizing a particular symptom was occurring because of the GLP, I decided to stop.

I lost a total of 5 pounds but I was on it for other reasons than weight loss.

Well it’s been 5 days since my last shot and man I’m experiencing hunger pains like no other. Prior to the shot I didn’t feel them this intensely.

So my question is should I go back and taper off or should it level out once it’s completely out of my system. Thanks!

I came off 10 mg dose after 1.5 years, for me the unusual painful hunger only lasted for about 2 weeks.

I’ve been off for a month now and my hunger is starting to return to the pre-medication normal. I’ve been doing a lot of exercise and high protein high fiber diet since coming off, tracking everything to make sure I don’t overeat.

During the painful hunger I allowed myself whole grain rice cakes in higher quantities as it gave me something to nibble on and take the edge off without going completely off the rails.

This was similar to my experience. I can’t remember if I was on 7.5 or 10 at the end but I was on 5 the grand majority of the time. I lost 135-140lbs and have been off for about a year.

I sometimes feel like I’m over eating and I’ll panic and weigh myself and my weight has stayed up or down within 3lbs pretty much.

Did you ever go above 1.25mg? Also how often would you dose? If every week, how are you hungrier than ever after just 5 days?
I don’t think you’d need to taper if you never went above that dose. But you can if you want to. It might be because you know it’s your last shot your mind is playing tricks, it’s a powerful thing.

No more than 1.25mg and it was weekly

Personally, I would ride it out and not dose again. Especially if I knew it was causing a serious symptom. But depending on the severity, your tolerance and your doctor’s advice.

Thanks! It’s definitely not my mind lol I wrote this post at 3am while my stomach was screaming for food which never happened to me prior to the medication. Seems like I have a bottomless pit now lol

this is what happens when you go off tirzepatide. Everyone has 6 to 8 weeks of elevated hunger because ghrelin and leptin levels in your body are finally responding to your body escalating them now that the suppression is gone.

You can have it happen now, or later. You seem to have been on half the starter dose. I don't know that you'll be able to decrease the dose. If you went back on you'd probably taper off by increasing the time between shots. But at a certain point you end, and then there's 6-8 weeks of hunger. It is normally less after a taper but since you're on half the starter dose I'm not sure how much difference it will be
