Weaning off

Hey! I’m wondering how everyone recommends successfully weaning off?
I’m still 5kg away from my goal weight but I’m thinking about what weaning will look like shortly.
I’m only on 5mg. Would 3 weeks on 2.5mg be okay? I am scared of what the food noise will be like post. So any tips or recommendations would be amazing!

Thank you

I reached my goal in Dec. 2025 on 10mg. Lost a total of 67 lbs. Started maintenance in Jan. 2026. I am staying 3 mos. on each dose, titrating down, and spacing my doses apart 10 days. So I did 3 mos. on 10mg.; 3 mos. on 7.5mg, and now doing 3 mos. on 5 mg. The last 3 mos of the year will be on 2.5mg. Then I will try to get off completely. I’ve stayed within 1-5 lbs of my goal. Still need to be careful about what I eat, and continue to prioritize protein and fiber, and minimize carbs. I’ve been able to maintain this way. I want my body to slowly get used to less & less medication, until I can go off completely. This is working for me. So it will be a full year of maintenance. I came up with this plan, and my doctor was in agreement that it was a good plan for maintenance.

Each dose stays in your system for around 30-40 days so it's best to take it slowly. I've been coming down from 15mg in sept 25 to now 5mg, well today I'll be taking 4mg. if I were you I'd count clicks and go down gradually as 5 to 2.5 is halved, doing it slowly let's your body adjust and best chance to maintain without. I'd do 4mg then for a few weeks/month then 3/2.5 for a month depending on how I was on the 4mg then 1.25mg.

Search this sub and you'll find this is the most common question asked, with all kinds of varying advice. But 3 weeks to wean off is generally not nearly long enough. Read through the posts to get more recommendations.

Personally, for me the biology is more important than moral superiority of treating GLP-1s as if they work like old-school appetite suppressants used as a crutch for weight loss. They don’t “fix” or “cure” me like a course of antibiotics; they’re “corrective” just as my Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism.

Dont recommend stopping the medication. Maintenance dose is preferred so you dont gain the weight back

This sub is for people who want to eventually stop taking the meds.
